Very important is a road loss of second rankedGheorgheni (11-6) against seventh ranked Stiinta (9-9) on Saturday night. Visiting Gheorgheni was crushed by Stiinta in Bucharest 83-64 . It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Gheorgheni. The game was mostly controlled by Stiinta. Gheorgheni was better in fourth quarter 24-22 . But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Stiinta dominated on the defensive end, holding Gheorgheni to just 6 points in second quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Gheorgheni 's 28. Stiinta forced 25 Gheorgheni turnovers and outrebounded them 42-31 including a 19-6 advantage in offensive rebounds. Stiinta players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. Guard Mihnea Vlaicu (178-2006, agency: VM Hoops Agency) orchestrated the victory by scoring 17 points, 5 rebounds, 9 assists and 6 steals. Alexandru Ionescu (-2003) contributed with 18 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Stiinta's coach Cristian Georgescu used entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Tamas Bodo (-2003) answered with 18 points and 7 rebounds and guard Matyas Lokody (190-1987) added 9 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Gheorgheni. Stiinta have a solid series of four victories in a row. They moved-up to fifth place, which they share with CSU ASE. Gheorgheni at the other side keeps the second position with six games lost. They share it with Ploiesti CSM 2.
