Regular Season Round 16: VKKM - Alytaus 83-61

Very expected game in Vilniaus where 10th rankedAlytaus (3-13) was rolled over by third ranked VKKM (11-5) 83-61 on Tuesday. It was a very close game until the last quarter, when VKKM's pressure prevailed and they won that period 34-13 extending their advantage to 22 points. VKKM outrebounded Alytaus 54-35 including a 40-27 advantage in defensive rebounds. VKKM looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Kristupas Grybas (202-2006) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 18 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists and forward Matas Staugaitis (200-2006) who added 12 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists during the contest. Four VKKM players scored in double figures. VKKM's coach Albertas Vilimas felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Matas Gavenauskas responded with a double-double by scoring 13 points, 11 rebounds, 5 assists and 5 steals and Naglis Sestakauskas scored 16 points. VKKM have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 11-5 record having four points less than leader Zalgiris. Loser Alytaus keeps the tenth place with 13 games lost. They share the position with Druskininku.
