Second Stage Round 2: Barreirense - Academica 68-66

Seventh-ranked Academica made lots of trouble for Barreirense in Barreiro on Saturday. Barreirense managed to secure only two-point victory 68-66. However their fans expected easier game. Canadian-Vincentian forward Opong Bramble (201-1997, college: CBU, agency: Helping Ballers) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and American center Evan Maxwell (203-1994, college: Dowling) chipped in 23 points and 5 rebounds during the contest. Barreirense's coach used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American forward Rob McCoy (201-1997, college: CUI) responded with 17 points and 6 rebounds and guard Eduardo Guimaraes (185-1992) scored 18 points. Barreirense will meet Vasco da Gama in the next round. Academica will play against Benfica U23 and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
