There was no surprise in Bucuresti where 18th rankedLaguna S. (1-9) was edged by sixteenth ranked Focsani (3-7) 88-86 on Saturday. Laguna S. trailed by 11 points after 3 quarters before a 26-17 run in the last quarter cut the deficit to 86-88 at the end of the game. Strangely Laguna S. outrebounded Focsani 44-27 including a 18-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. Focsani looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists comparing to just 8 passes made by Laguna S. 's players. American power forward Justin Baker (203-1989, college: Utah Valley) fired 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. The other American import guard Derryck Thornton (190-1997, college: Boston Coll.) chipped in 18 points and 7 assists. Baker is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas. Focsani's coach Mihai Petrut used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. American point guard Saeed Nelson (188-1998, college: American) produced 29 points and 8 rebounds and Bosnian-Croatian power forward Sandro Antunovic (208-1998) added 18 points and 8 rebounds respectively for lost side. Focsani maintains sixteenth position with 3-7 record. Loser Laguna S. stay at the bottom place with nine games lost.
