Not a big story in a game in Utena where 7th rankedUtenos (10-11) was defeated by third ranked VKKM (16-6) 100-95 on Tuesday. The guests trailed by 3 points at the halftime before their 29-20 charge in the third quarter, which allowed them to win the game. VKKM outrebounded Utenos 41-30 including 28 on the defensive glass. VKKM looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. Point guard Nikita Cikunov (184-2007) fired 30 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists for the winners. Forward Matas Staugaitis (200-2006) chipped in a double-double by scoring 26 points, 15 rebounds and 4 blocks. Point guard Titas Didzgalvis (181-2006) produced 37 points (!!!), 5 assists and 5 steals (made all of his seven free throws) and center Justas Vinikas (160-2006) added 18 points and 11 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. VKKM maintains third position with 16-6 record having just three points less than leader Zalgiris. Loser Utenos keeps the seventh place with 11 games lost.
