Very important is a road loss of second rankedPhoenix Hagen (22-10) against fourth ranked 46ers (23-10) on Saturday night. Visiting Phoenix Hagen was crushed by 46ers in Giessen 87-68 . It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Phoenix Hagen. Giessen made 26-of-29 charity shots (89.7 percent) during the game. They also forced 21 Hagen turnovers. Hagen was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. The winners were led by the former international forward Robin Benzing (208-1989) who scored that evening 25 points and 4 steals (was perfect 17-for-17 from the free throw line !!!) and Serbian forward Stefan Fundic (200-1994) supported him with 12 points and 12 rebounds. Five 46ers players scored in double figures. Even 9 points and 12 rebounds by center Lennart Boner (209-1993) did not help to save the game for Hagen . Point guard Bjarne Kraushaar (190-1999) added 14 points and 4 assists for the guests. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Giessen moved-up to third place. Hagen at the other side dropped to the fourth position with ten games lost. They share it with Jena.
