Very expected game when 14th rankedMerkezefendi (11-18) was smashed by fourth ranked Pinar Karsiyaka (20-9) in Izmir 97-73 on Saturday. Pinar Karsiyaka dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Merkezefendi 's 32. American guard Errick McCollum (188-1988, college: Goshen) nailed 23 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists for the winning side and his fellow American import point guard Jaylon Brown (183-1994, college: Evansville) accounted for 18 points. Four Pinar Karsiyaka players scored in double figures. Pinar Karsiyaka's coach Ufuk Sarica felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. American point guard Nate Mason (188-1995, college: Minnesota) came up with 25 points and 5 assists (was perfect 9-for-9 from the free throw line !!!) and Belgian forward Vrenz Bleijenbergh (208-2000) added 10 points and 10 rebounds respectively for Merkezefendi in the defeat. Pinar Karsiyaka moved-up to third place, which they share with Besiktas. Loser Merkezefendi keeps the fourteenth position with 18 games lost.
