There was an upset when second-bestALBA Berlin (23-6) was defeated on the road by twelfth ranked Braunschweig (13-17) 90-81 on Sunday. Braunschweig made 19-of-24 free shots (79.2 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. The best player for the winners was Angolan center Jilson Bango (208-1999) who scored 18 points and 9 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Swingman Brandon Tischler (201-2000) chipped in 17 points. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Sterling Brown (197-1995, college: SMU) who recorded 13 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists and 4 steals and his fellow American import forward Justin Bean (201-1996, college: Utah St.) added 9 points and 5 rebounds respectively. Five Braunschweig and four ALBA players scored in double figures. ALBA Berlin's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Braunschweig moved-up to eleventh place, which they share with Bamberg. Loser ALBA Berlin keeps the second position with six games lost. Braunschweig will meet bottom-ranked Tuebingen (#18) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. ALBA will play against Heidelberg (#16) and hope to secure a win.
