There was a minor upset when 7th rankedB.Loewen (2-3) was outplayed on the road by tenth ranked Herford (2-2) 116-78 on Saturday. Herford forced 25 B.Loewen turnovers and outrebounded them 49-27 including a 33-18 advantage in defensive rebounds. Herford looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 16 passes made by B.Loewen 's players. Trinidad and Tobago-American forward Stacey Thomas (203-1998, college: LSUS) fired 26 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Forward Bennet Gullatz (201-2004, college: W.Valley JC) chipped in 17 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Thomas is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Herford's coach felt very confident that he used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. Lars Brodisch (195-2004) produced a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and Tim Bruns added 9 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists respectively for lost side.
