The game had a very big importance for second-rankedGiessen as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Breitenguessbach) loss. Giessen smashed bottom-ranked Saarlouis at home 80-60 . Giessen dominated down low during the game scoring 56 of its points in the paint compared to Saarlouis ' 34. The winners were led by American forward Miles Mallory (196, college: RMC) who had that evening a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Austrian-Croatian point guard Matej Kljaic (189-1993) supported him with 5 points and 9 assists. Even 24 points by Nils Piprek (197-2004) did not help to save the game for Saarlouis . Naturalized American forward Anthony McDonald (195-1997, college: Lindenwood) added 11 points and 7 rebounds for lost side. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Giessen have a solid three-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams. Saarlouis at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost.
