AEK BC Athens sign Cleveland Melvin

AEK BC Athens (GBL) has signed experienced 34-year-old American 203cm forward Cleveland Melvin (college: DePaul) for the new season. He joins another USA player Greg Brown III who is already on the roster. Melvin most recently played at PAOK Mateco Thessaloniki (GBL), where he played in three leagues last year. In 25 GBL games, he averaged 13.1ppg, 4.8rpg, and 1.5apg. He also played 17 games in FIBA Europe Cup, averaging 14.6ppg, 4.2rpg, and 1.2apg, helping his team reach the cup final. Melvin was named Eurobasket.com FIBA Europe Cup Forward of the Year, voted to the All-Imports Team, and selected to the Eurobasket.com FIBA Europe Cup First Team. He also played 2 games in Basketball Champions League, averaging 9.5ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.0spg, and 1.0bpg. In the previous (2024-25) season, he played at Cholet Basket (Betclic ELITE ProA)
He is a very experienced player. Thanks to pro basketball, he experienced life in twelve different countries playing on four different continents. Melvin is familiar with European, Asian, Latin American, and North American leagues. He has played professionally in Croatia (Cibona), France, Hungary (Alba and Atomeromu), Israel (Hapoel Gilboa Galil), Lebanon (Moutahed), Mexico (Guinda and Jefes), Poland (Wilki Morskie, Start, and MKS), Portugal (FC Porto), Dominican Republic (Caneros), Thailand (Mono Vampire), ABA (Baltimore Hawks), and The Basketball Tournament (Red Scare).
His team won the Portuguese Cup in 2024.
Melvin graduated from De Paul University in 2014 and it will be his 13th (hopefully lucky) season in pro basketball.
