Bulgarian NBL round 2 best performance: Zawdie Jackson

American Point guard Zawdie Jackson (183-PG-2002) put on an amazing game in the last round for Shumen Basket, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 24-year old player was the main contributor (36 points, two rebounds and five assists) to his team's victory, helping them to edge out Botev (#11, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 87-84. Shumen is placed at 8th position in Bulgarian NBL. Shumen is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 1-1 record. In the team's last game Jackson had a remarkable 100.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Shumen's top player in his first season with the team. Former Florida International University star has very solid stats this year. Jackson is in league's top in points (5th best: 25.5ppg) and averages impressive 85.7% FGP and 42.9% from behind 3-point line.

The second best player in last round's games was young Martin Anguelov (188-G-2002) of Levski Sofia. Anguelov had a very good evening with 39 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists. Bad luck as Levski lost that game 83-101 to Balkan (2-0). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Anguelov is a newcomer at Levski, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 22.5ppg (#7). He also recorded 4.0 assists per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was swingman Aleksandar Matushev (197-G/F-2000) of BC Spartak Pleven (#9). Matushev got into 30-points club by scoring 31 points in the last round. He went also for eight rebounds . He was a key player of Spartak Pleven, leading his team to a 102-71 easy win against Polytechnica (#13, 0-2). Spartak Pleven needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Matushev has a great season in Bulgaria. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 26.0ppg (3rd best).
