The biggest surprise of round 2 in Central Europe Women League took place in Brasov where host Olimpia Brasov (1-0) beat Alba Iulia (0-1) 81-75 on Thursday evening. Alba Iulia trailed by 14 points at halftime and as many as 17 after three quarters before a 29-18 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 75-81 at the end of the game. Olimpia Brasov forced 21 Alba Iulia turnovers. 30 personal fouls committed by Alba Iulia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was American forward Portia Durrett (185-92, college: Oklahoma) who had a double-double by scoring 28 points and 12 rebounds. Gabriela Irimia (177-90) chipped in 24 points. American guard Ashley Morrissette (175-95, college: Purdue) produced 26 points and 5 rebounds for the guests. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest.

American guard Brandy Montgomery (178-95, college: Auburn) replied with 17 points and 6 rebounds for ICIM Arad. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Satu Mare will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
