There were only 2 rounds played so far and it's still very beginning of the Regular Season in Central Europe Women League. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.
The most important game of round 2 took place in Brno where Czech Zabiny Brno crushed Slovakian Young Angels (1-1) 101-71 on Wednesday night. Zabiny Brno forced 20 Young Angels turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. 26 personal fouls committed by Young Angels helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American forward Marques Webb (185-95, college: Vanderbilt) scored 19 points and 7 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuanian center Justina Matuzonyte (195-94) chipped in 17 points, 8 rebounds and 6 blocks (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) during the contest. American guard Samantha Logic (175-92, college: Iowa, agency: LBM Management) responded with 13 points. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Young Angels will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest. Zabiny Brno will try to continue on its current victory against Young Angels in Kosice.
The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of German BC Pharmaserv Marburg (1-1) at the home court. Hosts were defeated by Slovakian Piestanske C. (1-0) 78-66. Canadian center Jessica Lubin (185-90) notched 22 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists to lead the effort and Janee Thompson supported her with 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by American guard Tonisha Baker (173-90, college: Campbell) did not help to save the game for BC Pharmaserv Marburg. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Piestanske C. will play against Sokol Hradec Kralove (#3) on the road in the next round, which may be the game of the day. BC Pharmaserv Marburg will have a break next round.
