The
German Head Coach Michael Koch and the Cyprus team of AEL Limassol split ways
yesterday afternoon. The German Head Coach remain in the Limassol team exactly
one year with the result being more on the positive than in the negative site..
The German Head Coach had to handle a really small budget but against all odds,
he manages to "survive" with his team even though the outcome could
have been a bit better. The road wins over great opponents but the home loses
over theoretically smaller opponents was one of the characteristics of the team
that the German Head Coach build.
In any
case the German is leaving as a friend from the Cyprus team and who knows it
could be the case to return again on the Aphrodite's island...
The Greek
assistant Coach of AEL Limassol, Dimitris Sarikas has come to a great challenge
as this job could really be a career changer for the experienced Coach. Even
though his new team starts with a great change as the experienced player
(symbol of AEL Limassol) Palalas has retired, the Greek Coach will be having in
front of him the challenge to coach young and talented players like the two
newcomers Petar Zdravic (192-PG-97) and Ivan Bolshakov (198-C-01), two players that just arrived in
the Limassol team and especially Ivan is consider being a great talent and a
player that can offer a lot in the Cyprus Basketball. The first challenge for
the Greek Head Coach will be the premier game against APOP, as he travels with
his troops basically with half the team as in regards to the foreigners, Coach
Sarikas will only have the Lithuanian Dovydas Redikas (193-G-92), even though the Greek seven
footer Ioannis Dimakopoulos (218-C-94, college: UC Irvine) is a part of the team he will not (probably) being playing
in the starting game, while another 3-4 Americans are on their way to join the
team in the next week or so..
Eurobasket.com
is wishing the the new Head Coach of AEL Limassol, all the best!!!
