Jeff Allen claims Cypriot OPAP Basket League Interperformances weekly honour- November 3, 2020
The 33-year old had a double-double of 29 points and fifteen rebounds, while his team crushed, the league's bottom-ranked team AEL (#9, 0-4) with 18-point margin 86-68. Apollon maintains the 2nd position in Cypriot OPAP Basket League. They are still close to the very top. Apollon would have been even better if they kept winning the games like in the last round. They have a solid 4-1 record. In the team's last game Allen had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range. He turned to be Apollon's top player in his first season with the team. Virginia Tech University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Allen is in league's top in points (2nd best: 23.6ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 13.4rpg) and averages solid 67.6% FGP. The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 23-year old American power forward Eden Ewing (204-F/C-97) of Etha. Ewing impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 29 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as Etha was edged by slightly higher-ranked Keravnos (#3, 3-1) 74-71. Etha managed to keep the same 5th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. Ewing is a newcomer at Etha and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 16.4ppg (#9). He also registered 7.0 boards per game. The third best performed player last round was another Apollon's star - American Joey Dorsey (206-C/F-83). Dorsey showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, sixteen rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. He was another key player of Apollon, helping his team with a 86-68 easy win against AEL (#9, 0-4). Apollon is closer and closer to top of the standings. They will still need more victories. But 4-1 record is not that bad... Dorsey has a great season in Cyprus. After only 4 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 14.5rpg (#1 in league). Other top performing players last week: 4. Quentin Snider (188-G-95) of AEK Larnaca - 29 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists 5. Landen Lucas (208-F-93) of Apoel - 16 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists 6. Marcus Gilbert (198-F-93) of Apoel - 30 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists 7. Brandon Rozzell (188-G-89) of Keravnos - 22 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists 8. Derek Ogbeide (203-F-97) of AEK Larnaca - 15 points and 13 rebounds 9. Andre Williamson (203-C/F-89) of Keravnos - 10 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 10. Ivan Gandia-Rosa (185-PG-97) of AEL - 16 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
