Now all that mattered was the last 40 minutes - one winner and one loser. Without Johnell Smith (186-G-80, college: New Orleans), Svendborg was forced to play more team oriented, but looked surprisingly good. Bakken was solid, and at the halfway mark the score was 31-30. Two minutes into the fourth quarter Svendborg gained a 7 point lead, but Bakken came back. 62-58 with two minutes to go. Up six points with less than a minute the Rabbits were forced to foul. Andreas Jakobsen (187-G-83, college: Columbia (MO)), who had just made a huge three, was sent to the line. Up nine points and with 37 seconds left there was not much for the Rabbits to do but take quick shots, foul any Bakken player they could and PRAY! But the defending champion could not be 'shaken' and brought home the third straight Championship! Bakken wins 71-61! Congratulations to all the players, coaches and the club in Aarhus from Eurobasket Denmark. Bakken: Andreas Jakobsen 17 points, Chris Christoffersen 6 points and 18 rebounds. Svendborg: William Pharis 24 points and 6 boards, Ivan Hoger 11 points and 21 rebounds. Danish Cup Final - 83-78 Bakken wins! 83-78 Bakken WINS! From Eurobasket Denmark a big CONGRATULATIONS to all the Bakken Bears players, coaches, staff members and of course the Bakken supporters. This is the 6th Cup title for the Bakken Bears. Both Bakken and Naestved lost their last game in the CDL, prior to entering the Cup Final, and both teams seemed to have taken this as a wake-up call. Fans and spectators were treated to a great and very close game. Bakken secured the victory after a hard-fought 40 minute battle. Team FOG Naestved never gave up, fighting till the end, with Mickey Dennis (190-G/F-78, college: JMU) and Danilo Fatic (191-G-77) leading the way. This night Bakken was better, but still coach Kotila and his Team FOG Naestved team can be proud of the great strides that the team have made already this season. Ivan Miskovic (203-F/C-84, college: Alaska-Fairb.), and in particular Andreas Jakobsen (187-G-83, college: Columbia (MO)) was key for Bakken in this great win. CDL ALL STAR GAME

A splendid event to celebrate basketball in Denmark and in the mens Canal Digital League. The game was up tempo, filled with highlights and great individual performances. The West team, which on paper seemed to be the strongest also toke a good lead into half time (59-70), but after the break it was all East. The East team was victorious 140-129. The East team toke home the victory behind tremendous efforts from Horsholm's Jimmy Binnie (201-F-86, college: Dayton)(33 points), Justin James (199-F/C-82, college: La Palma)(26 points) and fellow Amager star Peter Johansen (204-F/C-80, agency: Arik Krayn Services) who had 24 points. For the West team Bakken's Elliah Clarke (198-F-85, college: De Paul) was the top-scorer with 22 points, while the Randers duo of Bonell Colas (206-F-82, agency: ProSportsCareers, college: Florida) and Chris Nielsen (193-G-85) added 19 and 17 points. The 3-point shoot-out was won by Aabyhoj's Peder Linnet (190-G/F-81). Last year's shooting champion was the top favorite for this competition and likely the CDL's poorest shooter. In the Slam-Dunk event Roskilde's Mario Brown (201-F-84, college: Jacksonville) was this years joker (the only secret/unannounced player of the competition) and had several tricks up his sleeve, as the forward dazzled spectators and won the title. It was another successful event for Danish Basketball and a fun day for players, coaches and spectators. |
