Bakken Bears defended the championship title in Denmark. They celebrated 76-79 on the road against Svendborg winning the Finals with 2-4. The guests trailed by 4 points after three quarters before their 22-15 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Bakken made 16-of-21 free shots (76.2 percent) during the game. American guard Joshua Alexander (193-87, college: SF Austin) scored 25 points and 5 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and the former international power forward Nicolai Iversen (205-80, college: San Jose City JC) chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds during the contest. Four Bakken players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international guard Adama Darboe (190-86) with 26 points and 5 assists and American forward Matthew Kingsley (206-86, college: SF Austin) scored 28 points and 6 rebounds. Svendborg's coach Craig Pedersen rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bakken Bears were the regular season champions in Ligaen with 25-2 record. They eliminated Aalborg with perfect 3-0 in the Quarterfinals. Later in the Semis, Bakken blasted Horsens IC also with 3-0. Bakken and Svendborg split the trophies this season, as the Rabbits celebrated in Danish Cup.
Third straight Cup Final for the Svendborg Rabbits and this time they finally won it. The Rabbits grabbed 73-75 victory against the Bakken Bears last night winning the first trophy of the season. Chanan Colman (191-G-84, college: Chipola) was the leading player in victory with 18 points and 6 rebounds. Matthew Kingsley (206-F-86, college: SF Austin) scored 16 points and Adama Darboe (190-G-86) followed him with one less. In the loosing squad, Chris Nielsen (192-G/F-85) collected 20 points and 6 rebs. Joshua Alexander (193-G-87, college: SF Austin) had 17 points and 5 boards, while Chris Christoffersen (218-C-79, college: Oregon) had double-double of 13 points and 10 rebs. It was a very exciting game until the end. Bakken started with 17-15 lead after ten minutes, but Svendborg shined in Q2 for 29-35 lead at the HT. The Bears replied after the breather (24-18) and teams went to the last ten minutes tied at 53-53. The Rabbits were focused at the very end, which allowed them to start the 2012 with valuable trophy. Both teams will continue their battle in Danish top division, where they both hope to win the title.
