Bakken Bears hire Ville Tuominen - May 7, 2013

The Ligaen champions Bakken Bears will have a new head coach next season. Steffen Wich has opted not to prolong his contract with the Bears and Bakken found the new name for the team. Ville Tuominen will take over the team from Aarhus in the next season. The Finnish specialist has signed 1+1 contract with the team. Ville Tuominen worked with Pyrinto last season. He led the Tampere team into the Korisliiga quarterfinals where they lost to Kauhajoki. Ville Tuominen previously worked with ToPo and BC Nokia. He also worked as coach assistant with the Finnish U18 and U16 National Teams. Ville Tuominen was named All-Finnish 1st Division Coach of the Year in 2012. Ville Tuominen is expected to start working with the team in August.

Bakken Bears earned the Danish Cup title. They breezed past Horsholm 79ers in the Final tonight. Morten Sahlertz (198-F-89) delivered 22 points to pace the winners.
Bakken Bears and Horsholm stayed close throughout the opening quarter. The Bears eked out a 24:22 lead after ten minutes. They managed to enlarge the lead in the second frame. Bakken Bears arrived at the interval up by as many as 20 points 54:34. Chris Christoffersen (218-C-79, college: Oregon) helped Bakken stretch the lead in the third term. The Bears piled up a massive 81:52 lead at the final intermission. Bakken opened the fourth term on a 10:4 run and never looked back roaming to the victory. Brenton Butler (190-G-87, college: Fordham) answered with 20 points for Horsholm. Rasmus Stolbjerg (201-F-95) had 10 points in defeat.
