Sten Saaremael claims Estonian 1 Liiga weekly honour

Estonian Sten Saaremael (187-PG-1999) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's second-best Kadrina Karud and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents 1 Liiga Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 27-year old playmaker had the game-high 32 points adding six rebounds and five assists for Kadrina in his team's victory, helping them to beat Tamsalu (#7, 2-4) 95-88. Kadrina maintains the 2nd position in Estonian 1 Liiga. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but Kadrina already had a very good start winning all 5 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Saaremael had a remarkable five three-pointers out of 8 attempts. He has many years of experience at Kadrina, through which he has constantly improved. Saaremael has impressive league stats. He is in league's top in assists (7th best: 5.4apg) and averages solid 52.4% FGP and 43.5% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young Christopher Lenk (191-SF-2004) of Keila Coolbet. Lenk impressed basketball fans with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. It was enough for Keila C. to edge the lower-ranked Audentese (#11, 1-5) by 6 points 84-78. Keila C.'s 8th position in the standings has not changed. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-4 record. Lenk is a newcomer at Keila C. and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.6ppg (#3). His other stats are also decent: 6.6rpg and 4.0apg.

The third best performed player last round was American Ugochuckwu Ejiofor (203-C-2003) of Haljala NGU (#10). Ejiofor scored 20 points and grabbed 19 rebounds (!!!). Despite Ejiofor's great performance the Haljala lost 81-88 to the higher-ranked Rapla (#6, 3-3). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Haljala can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-4 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Ejiofor has individually a great season in Estonia. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.6ppg (6th best) and rebounds with 11.8rpg (2nd best).
