Best players of LAT-EST BL round 5 (by Hoops Agents)

American Tony Perkins (193-G-2001) had a very impressive game in the last round for league's leader Rigas Zelli and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 25-year old guard had the game-high 28 points adding four rebounds and two assists for Rigas Z. in his team's victory, helping them to beat Bigbank/Kalev (#7, 4-3) 93-87. It allowed Rigas Z. to jump to the first place in the LAT-EST BL. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is already in a full swing and Rigas Z. still have not lost a single game, getting all 7 victories. Perkins turned to be Rigas Z.'s top player in his first season with the team. University of Missouri graduate has very impressive stats this year. Perkins is in league's top in points (7th best: 16.9ppg) and averages solid 53.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young point guard Helmuts Petrovics (198-PG-2007) of Rigas Basketbola skola. Petrovics impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 25 points and 10 rebounds. Of course Rigas BS cruised to a 89-82 relatively comfortable win over Keila C. (#15, 0-8). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Rigas BS keeps 9th position. His team lost some distance to top teams. But a 3-3 record is not bad and everything may still change. Petrovics is a newcomer at Rigas BS and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.2ppg (#1). His other stats are also decent: 5.5rpg and 4.5apg.

The third best performed player last round was Egyptian Omar El-Sheikh (205-F-1999) of Tartu Ulikool Maks & Moorits (#6). El-Sheikh scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). He was a key player of Tartu, leading his team to a 86-74 win against the higher-ranked VEF Riga (#2, 7-1). Tartu needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 4 victories and 2 lost games. El-Sheikh has a great season in LAT-EST BL. After only 6 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 10.2rpg (2nd best).
