Finnish 1st Division A round 1 best performance: Doug Smith

American Forward Doug Smith (203-F) had an amazing evening in the last round for Lapuan Kobrat, receiving a Hoops Agents 1st Division A Player of the Week award for round 1.
The player had a double-double of 30 points and 13 rebounds, while his team outclassed, the league's bottom-ranked team Pantterit (#10, 0-1) with 38-point margin 109-71. Thanks to this victory Kobrat moved-up to the 5th position in Finnish 1st Division A. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Kobrat won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. Smith turned to be Kobrat's top player in his first season with the team. Former Pfeiffer University star has very solid stats this year. Smith is in league's top in points (2nd best: 30.0ppg), rebounds (3rd best: 13.0rpg) and averages impressive 6.0bpg,4.0spg and 70.6% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was another Kobrat's star - American Tyler Whitney-Sidney (188-G). Whitney-Sidney had a very good evening with 32 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. Of course together with Smith he helped Lapuan Kobrat with another comfortable win outscoring Pantterit (0-1) 109-71. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won their first game. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Whitney-Sidney is a newcomer at Kobrat, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was guard Leon Ounap (188-PG-2006) of Jyvaskyla Basketball Academy (#3). Ounap showcased his all-around game by recording 22 points, 12 rebounds (!!!) and 4 assists in the last round. He was a key player of JBA, leading his team to a 94-86 win against Huima (#8, 0-1). JBA has a very good start of the season. But there was just one game played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Ounap also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. The season just started for Ounap as he played only first game. But it already looks like he can be team's leader.
