Finnish Korisliiga round 5 best performance: Mason Gillis

American Forward Mason Gillis (200-F-2000, agency: Octagon Europe) had a very impressive game in the last round for second-ranked KTP Basket Kotka, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 26-year old player was the main contributor (33 points, six rebounds) to his team's victory, helping them to beat Korihait (#11, 1-4) 100-89. KTP-Basket maintains the 2nd position in Finnish Korisliiga. They maintain a perfect record without any lost game in the league. The season is still on an early stage, but KTP-Basket already had a very good start winning all 5 without losing a single one. In the team's last game Gillis had a remarkable 66.7% from 2-point range. He turned to be KTP-Basket's top player in his first season with the team. Former Duke University star has very solid stats this year. Gillis is league's best scorer averaging so far 26.3ppg. Gillis is in league's top in and averages impressive 56.3% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American Masai Troutman (196-G-2002) of Kouvot Kouvola. Troutman had a very good evening with 30 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Of course he led Kouvot to another comfortable win 95-76 over the higher-ranked Kataja (#6, 2-3) being unquestionably team leader. Despite this victory they still are the league outsider. 4 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Kouvot managed to get this year. Troutman is a newcomer at Kouvot, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.0ppg (#8). His other stats are also decent: 4.3rpg and 3.3apg.

Third on the list of top players last round was American guard Deshon Taylor (188-G-1996) of LoKoKo Bisons Loimaa (#10). Taylor scored 22 points and passed 6 assists. Despite Taylor's great performance the Bisons lost 70-81 to the higher-ranked Vilpas (#4, 3-2). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Bisons can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 1-4 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Taylor has individually a great season in Finland. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 4.8apg (8th best).
