Abercrombie's double-double lands him 1st Division B Hoops Agents Player of the Week award

41-year old American power forward Cory Abercrombie (201-PF-1985) put on an amazing game in the last round for BC Nokia and receives a Hoops Agents 1st Division B Player of the Week award for round 2.
He had a double-double of 18 points and 14 rebounds, while his team beat HyPo (#9, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 83-75. Nokia is placed at 3rd position in Finnish 1st Division B. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Nokia won just one (their first) game. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Abercrombie had a remarkable 69.2% from 2-point range. He turned to be Nokia's top player in his first season with the team. Independence Community College graduate has very impressive stats this year. Abercrombie is in league's top in points (8th best: 18.0ppg), rebounds (2nd best: 14.0rpg), assists (6th best: 5.0apg) and averages solid 69.2% FGP.

Second best performed player last round was Veeti Ulander (203-SF) of top-ranked Tapiolan Honka. He is a in his 2nd season at Honka 2. In the last game Ulander recorded an impressive double-double of 25 points and 13 rebounds. Of course he led Honka to another comfortable win 88-74 over Pajulahti (0-2) being unquestionably team leader. His team has extremely good start of the season. They won both games so far. However the season is at the beginning, so everything can happen. They still may lose their high position in the standings. Ulander is well-known at Honka and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders.

Third place about best performers goes to swingman Benjamin Granstrom (191-G/F-2008) of Salon Vilpas (#4). Granstrom scored 27 points and grabbed 7 rebounds. Despite Granstrom's great performance the Vilpas lost 79-81 to TuNMKY (#6, 2-0). But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing Vilpas needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 1 victory and 1 lost game. Granstrom has a great season in Finland. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 30.5ppg (best scorer).
