Nancy dethrones Cholet, wins the ProA title in thriller - Jun 12, 2011

ProA, Final: Cholet - Nancy 74-76

Nancy is the new champion of France. They grabbed 74-76 thriller win against Cholet in the Big Final, which was played at the Bercy arena in Paris. The game was tied at 74-74, when John Linehan (175-78, college: Providence) made a basket for Nancy with 3 seconds to go. The defending champion was unable to score in their last possession and they stayed without the trophy this season. Nancy won the title also in 2008.
Nancy took control from the first minutes by winning the initial quarter 24-20. But Cholet won second period 22-19. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. As mentioned above, the game was decided in the finish and Linehan was a hero. He was also named MVP of the Big Final. Nancy made 19-of-25 free shots (76.0 percent) during the game. Strangely Cholet outrebounded Sluc Nancy 41-28 including a 16-3 advantage in offensive rebounds. It was a great shooting night for Sluc Nancy especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 56.3 percentage. American guard John Linehan stepped up and scored 15 points and 4 assists for the winners and naturalized Cameroonian forward Victor Samnick (203-79, college: Georgetown) chipped in 15 points. Five Sluc Nancy players scored in double figures. At the losing side Dominican guard Sammy Mejia (198-83, college: De Paul) responded with 15 points and 6 rebounds (made all of his seven free throws) and American guard DeMarcus Nelson (193-85, college: Duke) scored 15 points. Cholet's coach Erman Kunter rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
Nancy was No.2 in regular season with 21-9 record. They eliminated Hyeres-Toulon in the Quarterfinals (2-1) and ASVEL in the Semis (2-1).

Cholet beats Orleans in OT to win the erCup - Oct 2, 2010

SuperCup: Cholet - Orleans 85-79

Cholet grabbed the first trophy this season. The reigning French champion outsmarted Orleans to win the SuperCup. It was a very exciting game and Cholet made it in overtime 85-79. Fabien Causeur (193-G-87) stepped up for the hosts with 20 points and 5 rebounds, and Vule Avdalovic (189-G-81, agency: Beo Basket) also was great adding 18 points for 26 minutes. Third scorer in victory was Samuel Mejia (198-G-83, college: De Paul) with 17 points (6 rebs, 6 as). In the loosing squad, Aldo Curti (180-G-87) shined with 20 points and 5 assists. J.R. Cholet opened the game better making 21-15 lead in the first ten minutes. Both teams slowed down offensively after that, but still the hosts won Q2 as well (13-12) so they went to the halftime break with plus 7. Visitors exploded offensively after the breather and mostly owing to Aldo Curti they made 19-24 in Q3, thus everything was open with 10:00 to go. Orleans made a turn in the last quarter and Cholet was trailing by 3 in the finish. The hosts had possession and Vule Avdalovic passed the ball to Samuel Mejia, who drained a triple with 10 seconds left in the game. Orleans had the ball, but they committed a mistake (offensive foul) so this game went to OT. In extra five minutes Cholet was more concentrated and managed to win the first trophy this season. Fabien Causeur was the MVP of this game with valuation 24.
