American Alonzo Verge Jr (190-G-1998, agency: Octagon Europe) had a great game in the last round for Rasta Vechta and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 14.
The 27-year old guard had the game-high 26 points adding five rebounds and seven assists for Vechta in his team's victory, helping them to beat Chemnitz (#9, 7-7) 96-90. The game was not the highest importance and did not have significant influence on top of the standings. Rasta Vechta maintains the 13th position in German BBL. Vechta is a typical solid league team placed somewhere in the middle or a little bit lower in the standings. They need more victories to improve their 6-7 record. In the team's last game Verge Jr had a remarkable 63.6% from 2-point range. He turned to be Rasta Vechta's top player in his first season with the team. University of Nebraska graduate has very impressive stats this year. Verge Jr is league's best scorer averaging so far 20.4ppg. Verge Jr is in league's top in assists (3rd best: 6.4apg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Keith Braxton (196-G-1997) of Science City Jena. Braxton impressed basketball fans with 22 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists. Of course Science City Jena cruised to a 95-86 relatively comfortable win over the higher-ranked Weissenfels (#10, 7-7). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. But Jena managed to improve slightly their position in standings taking 14th place. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 5-8 record. Braxton is a newcomer at Jena and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.

The third best performed player last round was American Justin Bean (201-F-1996) of ALBA Berlin (#5). Bean scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds (!!!). Despite Bean's great performance the ALBA Berlin lost 73-76 to the lower-ranked Oldenburg (#15, 5-9). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. The last thing ALBA needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams. Their record is 8 victories and 5 lost games. Bean has a great season in Germany. After 13 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 6.5rpg (9th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Joe Wieskamp (198-G/F-1999) of Jena - 20 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists
5. Devon Daniels (196-G-1998) of Hamburg - 32 points and 4 rebounds
6. TJ Crockett (187-G-1999) of Rostock - 25 points, 6 rebounds and 3 assists
7. David McCormack (208-C-1999) of Bayern - 12 points and 9 rebounds
8. Alijah Comithier (201-G-2001) of Bonn - 22 points, 5 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Brae Ivey (187-PG-1997) of Wuerzburg - 20 points and 4 assists
10. Owen Klassen (208-C-1991) of Rostock - 11 points, 12 rebounds and 5 assists

The Player of the week is selected based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

The Player of the Week awards are presented by Hoops Agents. Hoops Agents is the most complete website about the agencies and players they represent. With more than twenty years of experience, Hoops Agents is already recognized as the most reliable destination for the players who wish to continue their career in professional basketball and are searching for a reputable and connected representation.
