Panathinaikos won the Greek Championship 2008!
Panathinaikos succeeded to win his 10th title in the last 11 years after beating his rival, team of Olympiakos 90-76 in a game which just finished. The quarters were: 19-14, 39-34, 65-60, 90-76, and Panathinaikos proved once more that upon difficulties the great players are showing their gats, Sarunas Jasikevicius (192-G-76, college: Maryland) with his 18 points, 4 assists, and 2 block shots, Michael Batiste (203-F-77, college: Arizona St.) with his 18 points and 6 rebounds, Vasilis Spanoulis (193-G-82) with his 15 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals, Dimitris Diamantidis (196-G-80) with his 13 points, 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 4 steals and 1 block shot and Kostas Tsartsaris (210-F-79) with his 12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists were excelent in the last and most crucial game of the seazon in compare with the 'blocked' Greek players of Olympiakos and especially, Giorgos Printezis (4 points and 1 rebound), Panagotis Vasilopoulos (4 points and 5 rebounds), Iakovos Tsakalidis (0 points and 1 rebound) and Schortsianitis (4 points and 0 rebounds) couldn;t stand a chance against Obradovic's team and proved to be very weak for OAKA and for such situation and importance, games.

Panagiotis Yiannakis made his best but his best wasn't enough against a team which its memebrs playing together for more than 3 years. Obradovic's fourth consecutive double is a fact and Panathinaikos has now broke the record which Aris had in 80's.

For the 3rd and 4th position, Panionios made the total recall and won a position in the Euroleague after 12 years! The final result was 88-74. (More details in a tomorrows edition)

Panathinaikos won the Hellenic cup for fourth consecutive time!
Tsartsaris is back! No wonders why Zeljko Obradovic stated that one of the main reasons which Panathinaikos disqualified from Euroleague it was the absence of their super power forward Kostas Tsartsaris (210-F-79).
The amazing Greek forward proved his coach's statement last night when Panathinaikos defeated Olympiacos at Ellinikon Olympic Hall 81-79 to win the Greek Cup for fourth straight time. Kostas Tsartsaris, was named MVP of the Greek Cup final for the third straight year, had 14 points and 5 boards for the Greens. The Greens, who bounced back after their shocking elimination from the Euroleague Quarterfinal Playoffs to show that they are still the team to beat in Greece.
Panathinaikos took the an early lead in last night's thrilling game, but Olympiacos stayed competitive. By the end of the first half, the Greens led 30-34 and in the third period, both teams found their rhythm as the excitement grew. Tsartsaris sank a big three at the beginning of the fourth quarter for a 13-point Panathinaikos lead, 50-63. But Greer, who went scoreless in the first half, caught fire and led Olympiacos on an impressive comeback. With 1:10 to go, Spanoulis hit another three-pointer to make it 70-75, but the Reds already received Panagiotis Giannakis passion and spirit. Thirty seconds before the end Dimitris Diamantidis's free throws gave his team a 5-point lead, but Olympiacos used its fouls to stay alive. With 12 seconds to go, Greer made one for two free throws, grabbed the offensive rebound and tied the game at 78-78. Sarunas Jasikevicius (192-G-76, college: Maryland) posted 2 free throws at the other end for a 78-80 advantage, then Greer went to the foul line, but scored only one, 79-80 and Winston sealed the victory for his team with a free throw. It is worth mentioning the fact that Olympiakos dashed down 10 rebounds more than the permanent champions (48-38) and shot much better from the parameter with 22/27 free throws 15/24 two's and 9/18 three's with Panathinaikos having 15/23 free throws, 9/21 two's and 16/30 three's. Panathinaikos was much better in the assists as the Greens overcome their opponents with 16 to 9. The protagonists of the Cup Final
Other than the MVP, Kostas Tsartsaris, Panathinaikos, shot 16 for 30 from downtown got 20 points and 7 assists from Vasilis Spanoulis (193-G-82), while 11 points and a key free throw in the closing seconds from Kennedy Winston (198-F-84, college: Alabama). Olympiacos's Lynn Greer (186-G-79, college: Temple) bagged 28 points dished 5 assists, but missed some critical free throws down the stretch. Panagotis Vasilopoulos (202-F-84) added 15 points, Ioannis Bourousis (212-C-83) recorded a double-double with 11 points and 12 rebounds and Marc Jackson (206-C/F-75, college: Temple) had 10 points.
