Preseason Friendly: Famila Wuber Schio Holds Off Broni Rally to Close Preseason 3-0, 73-67

Famila Wuber Schio completed a perfect preseason on Sunday, surviving a spirited fourth-quarter push from Logiman Broni to win 73-67 on the road in what was both the team's third preseason friendly and its final away tune-up before the regular season begins. Coach Dikaioulakos's side raced out of the gate and held on through a tense finish to finish the preseason unbeaten in three outings.
Schio set the tone immediately, opening a 22-16 first-quarter lead and continuing to push the pace through the second period to build a commanding 45-31 halftime advantage. Broni found its footing after the break, however, winning the third quarter 19-17 to cut into the deficit, and the home side kept coming in the fourth, outscoring Schio 17-11 over the final ten minutes to pull as close as six points by the final horn. The rally ultimately fell short, but it was enough to turn what had looked like a comfortable Schio win into a genuine test down the stretch.
Morgan Bertsch (193-F-1997, college: UC Davis, agency: LBM Management) led all scorers with 16 points to pace the visitors, with Ilaria Panzera (180-SG-2002) adding 11 and both Kim Mestdagh (180-SG-1990, college: Colorado St.) and Carlotta Zanardi (173-G-2005) contributing 10 apiece as four different Schio players reached double figures. Mariam Coulibaly (192-C-1997, agency: Areus Sports) added 8 points while providing steady interior presence, rounding out a balanced scoring effort that proved just enough to see off Broni's second-half surge.
With preseason business concluded, Schio will play every remaining tune-up at the PalaRomare before its official season debut. The next assignment comes on the 19th for Green Basketball Day against Hungary's Sopron Basket, a game that will also mark the return to action of three players fresh off the World Cup in Berlin: Costanza Verona, Olbis Andre and Jasmine Keys.
