Preseason: Magnolia Campobasso pulls away late to beat Roseto, 61-51

People Strategy Panthers Roseto dropped their fourth preseason test of the summer, falling 61-51 to a well-regarded Magnolia Campobasso side on Sunday at the PalaMaggetti, despite a strong fightback in the second half.
Roseto took the court without Miccoli, Farabello and American Landrum, while Eliska Brejchova (182-SG-2003) and Lavinia Lucantoni (177-F-2005) played just days after returning from the 3x3 World Cup in China. The absences showed early, as Roseto fell behind 28-12 after the first quarter. Coach Righi's side steadily found its rhythm from the second quarter onward, and an inspired performance from Marie Reichert) helped pull Roseto back within five points by the third quarter, 49-44. Roseto ramped up its defensive intensity in the fourth quarter and cut the deficit to just four points with four minutes to play, 54-50, but missed several good looks on offense in that stretch, allowing Campobasso to close the game with the decisive run.
Marie Reichert led all scorers for Roseto with 13 points, and Caterina Dotto (168-PG-1993) added 9. Eliska Brejchova, who was fresh off international 3x3 duty, still managed 7 points, while Lavinia Lucantoni and Clark each scored 6. For Campobasso, Liz Scott (188-F-2001, college: Oklahoma) paced the offense with 15 points and Giachetti added 12, with Beatrice Cere (182-F-2007) and Vilka both chipping in 10.
Roseto's preseason schedule wraps up this coming weekend, September 26-27, at the "Campobasso per lo Sport" tournament, where the Panthers will face Campobasso, Battipaglia and Napoli.
