Italian Serie A round 2 best performance: Jeff Dowtin Jr. (by Hoops Agents)

American Guard Jeff Dowtin Jr. (190-G-1997) put on an amazing game in the last round for top-ranked Gevi Napoli Basket, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 2.
The 29-year old player got a double-double of 17 points and 10 assists, while his team beat Reggio Emilia (#13, 0-2), the league's bottom-ranked team 99-93. It allowed Napoli to take over top position in the Italian Serie A. But it's just the very beginning of the season and Napoli won both games without losing any. It's too early to say anything as the standings can be changed completely after next round. In the team's last game Dowtin Jr. had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range. He turned to be Napoli's top player in his first season with the team. Former University of Rhode Island star has very solid stats this year. Dowtin Jr. is in league's top in points (8th best: 18.0ppg), assists (2nd best: 8.5apg) and averages impressive 80.0% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young American point guard Nicolo Mannion (190-PG-2001) of Roma Basketball. Mannion had a very good evening with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. Of course he led Roma Basket to another comfortable win outscoring Tortona (1-1) 108-70. The season is still at the very beginning and this victory may help a lot. Let's wait for the next round. Mannion is a newcomer at Roma Basket, but is already one of team's top players.

Third on the list of top players last round was Canadian guard Marcus Carr (188-G-1999) of Virtus Segafredo Bologna (#5). Carr scored 21 points and passed 13 assists (!!!). He was a key player of Virtus Bologna, leading his team to a 98-89 win against Roma Max. (#14, 0-2). Virtus has a very good start of the season. But there were just 2 games played, so it's too early to judge them at this stage. Carr also has a very good start of the season with very strong stats. Carr has a great season in Italy. After only 2 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 9.5apg (best passer).
