Argentinian Center Ivan Prato (210-C-2007) had an amazing evening in the last round for second-ranked Pallacanestro Varese U20 team, receiving a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 1.
The 18-year old player had a double-double of 18 points and 16 rebounds, while his team beat Trapani (#8, 0-3), the league's bottom-ranked team 85-74. Varese maintains the 2nd position in their group in the Italian NextGen. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost that single game earlier this season. Varese will need more victories to improve their 2-1 record. In the team's last game Prato had a remarkable 57.1% from 2-point range. He turned to be Varese's top player in his first season with the team. Ivan Prato has solid league stats. He is in league's top in points (8th best: 21.0ppg), rebounds (8th best: 9.3rpg) and averages impressive 1.3bpg and 68.8% FGP.

The second best player in last round's games was young Matteo Meschini (185-PG -2006) of Banco di Sardegna Sassari U20 team. Meschini had a very good evening with 30 points and 5 assists. Bad luck as Sassari lost that game 91-121 to Trieste (2-1). The season is still at the very beginning and this lost game may not be such crucial, of course if they start win the games. Let's wait for the next round. Meschini is a newcomer at Sassari, but is already one of team's top players. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 20.7ppg (#9). He also recorded 3.3 assists per game.

Third on the list of top players last round was Italian Federico Bottelli (191-PG -2008) of Allianz Derthona U20 team (#3). Bottelli scored 28 points. Despite Bottelli's great performance the Tortona lost 93-97 to #1 ranked Udine. But his team cannot count on just a single shooter as he also needs help of the other teammates especially in such crucial game. The last thing Tortona needs is to lose another game like this one. They lose more and more distance to the top teams in the group A. Their record is 2 victories and 1 lost game. Bottelli has a great season in Italy. After only 3 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 23.0ppg (5th best) and assists with 3.7apg (6th best).
