Buducnost Bemax extend historic reign with 14th straight Montenegrin women's title, complete 12th consecutive unbeaten double-Apr 15, 2026
Buducnost Bemax completed yet another season of total domestic dominance, crushing Sea Stars 123-73 in Game 2 of the I A EKO ZCKL (Montenegrin Women's First League) playoff final to clinch a staggering 14th consecutive national championship — their 16th overall — and a 12th straight season finishing with both the league title and the Cup of Montenegro without suffering a single defeat.
The "Vucice" (She-Wolves) left absolutely no doubt in the clinching game at Tivat, racing to a 24-4 lead in the opening minutes and effectively ending the contest before it had truly begun. Sea Stars briefly cut the deficit to single digits after Buducnost rotated through their bench, but the Podgorica side quickly reasserted control and took a 68-36 lead into halftime, turning the second half into a formality.
Atina Radevic (174-G-2006) led the champions with 27 points, while Ksenija Scepanovic (191-C-2002) flirted with a triple-double — finishing with 23 points, 12 rebounds and 9 assists for an extraordinary efficiency rating of 44. Janja Dragisic (170-G-2007) matched Scepanovic's 23-point output to complete a devastating trio of performers who combined for 73 points between them. For Sea Stars, Tania Hill (185-G, college: Texas Southern) scored 23 points and Sofija Vuckovic) added 17 in the defeat.
Despite the lopsided final, Sea Stars can take pride in a remarkable debut season in senior competition. The Tivat-based club reached the final in both the Cup of Montenegro and the league playoffs in their very first year competing at the senior level — a promising foundation for the future.
The championship trophy was presented to Buducnost by Darko Ivanovic, General Secretary of the Basketball Federation of Montenegro (KSCG), while gold medals were handed out by Budimir Vukic (president of the KSCG Competition Commission) and Mirjana Sekulic (commissioner of the Women's First A League). Sea Stars received their silver medals from Olivera Miskovic Vidojevic, Secretary for Social Affairs of the Municipality of Tivat.
Buducnost Bemax's numbers across their dynasty are almost beyond comprehension: 14 titles in a row, 16 total, and 12 consecutive seasons completing the domestic double without a single loss in Montenegrin competition. No women's basketball programme in the region can match the consistency and depth that the Podgorica club has sustained over more than a decade.
