It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in Liga Feminina, but even now we can clearly see the difference between stronger teams and outsiders. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.
CAB Madeira defeated Benfica in Funchal 83-73. CAB Madeira made 24-of-27 free shots (88.9 percent) during the game. The best player for the winners was Serbian swingman Milica Ivanovic (178-1988, college: Catawba) who scored 27 points and 5 rebounds (went 10 for 10 at the free throw line !!!). Angolan guard Rafaela Henriques (170-2002) chipped in 23 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was American center Schaquilla Nunn (190-1994, college: Tennessee) who recorded 19 points. Benfica's coach Ricardo Vasconcelos rotated twelve players in this game, but that didn't help. Benfica will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest in order to get back on the winning path. CAB Madeira will try to continue on its current victory against GDRAR in Evora.
Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Lisbon: Benfica (#3) and CDEFF (#8). CDEFF was crushed at home by 25 points 63-88 and even the advantage of their own court did not help. It was a good game for Mexican forward Mariana Valenzuela (188-2003, college: Seton Hall) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 12 rebounds. Schaquilla Nunn contributed with 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) for the winners. Maria Lopes (174-2002) answered with 20 points for CDEFF. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Benfica will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. CDEFF will play at home against GDRAR (#11) to get more than just one victory in their record.
The game in Sao Joao supposed to be also quite interesting. Q.Lombos (3-0) played at the court of Sanjoanense (1-2). Q.Lombos smashed Sanjoanense 94-70 on Saturday. It was a great evening for Joseana Vaz who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points and 15 rebounds.
