The most interesting game of round 5 was a home defeat of 7th ranked GDESSA (2-3) to sixth ranked Sanjoanense (3-2) 90-78. Sanjoanense outrebounded GDESSA 40-29 including 30 on the defensive glass. GDESSA will play on the road against Sporting in Lisbon and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident.
Liga Feminina top team - CAB Madeira (5-0) managed to deliver another win. This time they beat twelfth ranked Coimbroes (0-5) in Vila Nova de Gaia 76-65. Canadian swingman Madalyn Weinert (178-2003, college: Brock) nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and Nehita Oko-Oboh accounted for 9 points and 12 rebounds. Canadian-Jamaican guard Tiffany Reynolds (175-1998, college: Lakehead) came up with 23 points for Coimbroes in the defeat. They maintain first place with 5-0 record. Coimbroes at the other side still closes the standings with five games lost. CAB Madeira will play against Q.Lombos (#3) in Carcavelos in the next round, which may be the game of the day. Coimbroes will play at home against CDEFF (#11) and hope to get finally their first victory.
The game in Aveiro was also quite interesting. Fourth ranked Sporting (4-1) played at the court of 7th ranked Esgueira (2-3). Sporting managed to secure a 8-point victory 75-67 on Sunday.
