U18 League Round 12 (Regular Season): Ploiesti lose to Sibiu

The biggest surprise took place in Sibiu where host Sibiu CSU (11-2) crushed league's leader Ploiesti (10-2) 68-49 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the six-game winning streak of Ploiesti. It was a key game for the top position in the league. Sibiu CSU have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader. Ploiesti at the other side dropped to the second place with two games lost. They were replaced at the leadership position by Sibiu CSU. Ploiesti will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest and make it back to the top of the standings. Sibiu CSU will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Cluj-Napoca in Cluj Napoca.
Another interesting game was a derby match between two teams from Bucuresti: Leii (#3) and Agronomia (#6). Agronomia was smashed at home by 18 points 67-85 and even the fact of playing on their own court did not help. Leii have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 10-3 record behind leader Sibiu CSU. Agronomia lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with nine games lost. Leii will play against Phoenix Galati (#7) on the road in the next round. Agronomia will play against Valcea in Ramnicu Valcea and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
Leader Ploiesti delivered the tenth victory on Thursday night. This time they crushed 8th ranked Stars 2012 (1-12) 107-80. Ploiesti (10-2) have an impressive six-game winning streak. Despite that victory Ploiesti went down to second position due to points difference. Stars 2012 lost fifth consecutive game. They stay at the bottom place with 12 games lost.

In the last game of round 12 Valcea defeated Stars 2012 in Ramnicu Valcea 85-75.
