Albert Vargas gets MVP of the Week award for Serbian KLS

Talented Dominican Rep. Albert Vargas (178-PG-2006, agency: Octagon Europe) had a very impressive game in the last round for KK Tamis Pancevo and that's him to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 20-year old playmaker had the game-high 32 points adding seven rebounds and seven assists for Tamis PN in his team's victory, helping them to edge out OKK Beograd (#16, 0-5), the league's bottom-ranked team 113-109. Tamis PN is placed at 7th position in Serbian KLS. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost two games earlier this season. Tamis PN will need more victories to improve their 3-2 record. In the team's last game Vargas had a remarkable 54.5% from 2-point range. He turned to be Tamis PN's top player in his first season with the team. Robert Morris University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Vargas is league's best scorer averaging so far 22.8ppg. Vargas is in league's top in assists (9th best: 5.2apg) and averages solid 58.1% FGP and 41.7% from behind 3-point line.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young swingman Nikola Karalic (202-G/F-2008) of BC Mega Superbet Beograd. Karalic impressed basketball fans with 25 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists. Bad luck as Mega BG was edged by the higher-ranked Tamis PN (#7, 3-2) 113-109. Mega BG managed to keep the same 16th spot in the standings. 5 lost games are too many considering they did not win any game. Karalic is a newcomer at Mega BG and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 19.0ppg (#4). He also registered 5.0 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was Stefan Savic (200-F-1995) of KK Zlatibor Cajetina (#10). Savic scored 22 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. He was a key player of Zlatibor, leading his team to a 94-84 win against the lower-ranked Borac ZM (2-3). The chances of Zlatibor ranking at the top of the league, however are very questionable as they have already lost 3 games, recording just two victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Savic could help Zlatibor to bring them higher in the standings. Savic has a great season in Serbia. After only 5 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in assists with 3.4apg (4th best).
