The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of GC Zurich U23 in Lausanne on Friday night. Visitors were rolled over by CNBS 104-62. CNBS dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to GC Zurich U23's 26. CNBS forced 21 GC Zurich U23 turnovers and outrebounded them 45-25 including a 21-10 advantage in offensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of guard Viktor Keredzin (195-2008) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 rebounds. Swingman Mijodrag Dimic (200) contributed with 16 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Guard Taner Ozturk (187-2007) answered with 21 points and 7 rebounds for GC Zurich U23. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
Another exciting game for Bernex which played on the court of Acad.Fribourg. Bernex upset home team edging them after exciting game by two points 78-76. Acad.Fribourg was very close to get their first win. But it seems they have to wait a little bit longer. The former international Florian Steinmann (197) stepped up and scored 22 points and 6 rebounds for the winners and Patrick Ngueukam chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds. At the losing side point guard Abishai Kumarasamy (178-2007) responded with 22 points and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Bernex will play against Red Devils in Morges in the next round. Acad.Fribourg will have a break next round.
An interesting game for Swiss Central which hosted in Luzern Winterthur. Swiss Central managed to get a 12-point victory 79-67. Kayden Carter nailed a double-double by scoring 25 points and 11 rebounds (on 10-of-12 shooting from the field) for the winning side. Kalei Yelamos came up with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for Winterthur in the defeat. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.
Other games in round 1 were not that significant. Wallabies beat Baeren on the road 71-64. Meyrin won against Tigers U23 on its own court 104-93. Villars managed to outperform Boncourt in a road game 79-69. Riviera lost to Red Devils at home 65-96.
The most impressive performance of 1st round was 16 points and 14 rebounds by Joao Grosso of Red Devils.
