The round 6 was rather boring as all games ended with very predictable results. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.
Bottom-ranked Turgutlu (0-5) is still winless. But it was rather predictable considering how strong their opponent was. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their fifth consecutive match to third ranked Botas (5-1) 80-45 on Sunday evening. Botas outrebounded Turgutlu 40-26 including 31 on the defensive glass. Botas looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Guard Idil Yeniculha (173-2006) scored 14 points to lead the charge for the winners and Nigerian power forward Evelyn Akhator (190-1995, college: Kentucky) chipped in 5 points and 13 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was American forward Mikayla Cowling (188-1996, college: California, agency: LBM Management) with 10 points and 6 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Botas have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to second place. Newly promoted Turgutlu still closes the standings with five games lost. Botas are looking forward to face Fenerbahce (#4) in Istanbul in the next round. Turgutlu will play on the road against Ormanspor (#9) in Ankara and hopes to get finally their first victory.
The game in Istanbul was also worth to mention about. Sixth ranked Mersin (3-2) played at the court of 7th ranked Emlak (2-4). Mersin managed to secure a 7-point victory 67-60. French point guard Carla Leite (175-2004) notched 21 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists to lead the effort and Kennedy Burke supported her with 13 points and 5 rebounds. Even 18 points and 9 rebounds by Nigerian power forward Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpanah (188-1997, college: Northwestern) did not help to save the game for Emlak. Defending champion maintains sixth position with 3-2 record. Emlak at the other side keeps the seventh place with four games lost. Mersin will play against higher ranked Nesibe (#5) in Ankara in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Emlak will have a break next round.
