TBL Round 30 (Regular Season): #1 Trabzonspor is defeated by Gaziantep

The games are now more important than at the beginning of the Regular Season. We may still expect few shocking results in upcoming 4 rounds. Here is the last round review presented by Job Market.

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Trabzonspor (23-7) on the court of seventh ranked Gaziantep on Saturday night. Visitors were edged by Gaziantep 87-84. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Trabzonspor. Forward Utku Yucedag (198-1994) had a double-double by scoring 12 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners and swingman Kaan Sariaslan (192-1997) chipped in 15 points and 5 assists during the contest. Gaziantep's coach Ali Yildirim used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. The best for the losing side was American point guard Ty Gordon (185-1998, college: Nicholls) with 24 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists. Gaziantep (17-13) moved-up to sixth place, which they share with Cagdas BS. Newly promoted Trabzonspor still keeps top position with seven games lost. Gaziantep is looking forward to face higher ranked Ankaragucu (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Trabzonspor will play against Cedi Osman and is hoping to win this game.
Very important is a home loss of third ranked Sigortam.net (21-9) against twelfth ranked TED Ankara (14-16) on Saturday night. Host Sigortam.net was defeated by TED Ankara in a tough game in Balikesir 79-87. Senegalese center Abdoulaye Gueye (206-1994, college: Georgia Tech) notched 24 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the effort and Troy Franklin supported him with 22 points, 5 rebounds and 6 assists (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line). Even 16 points by American point guard Keshun Sherrill (175-1994, college: Augusta) did not help to save the game for Sigortam.net. TED Ankara maintains twelfth position with 14-16 record. Sigortam.net at the other side keeps the third place with nine games lost. TED Ankara will play against higher ranked Haremspor (#10) in Istanbul in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Sigortam.net will play at home against Anka Spor (#18) and hopes to get back on the winning track.
Bottom-ranked Anka Spor (0-30) is still winless. This time they lost on the road their 30th consecutive match to ninth ranked Bordo (16-14) 96-85 on Sunday evening. The best player for the winners was Mert Sert who scored 15 points and 6 rebounds. At the other side the best for losing team was Kaan Onat who recorded 23 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Bordo have a solid three-game winning streak. They moved-up to eighth place, which they share with Konya BBSK. Loser Anka Spor still closes the standings. Bordo will meet at home league's second-placed Erokspor in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. There were no shocking results in the other games in round 30: Cagdas BS was destroyed by Balikesir BBS on the opponent's court 76-56. Konya BBSK unfortunately lost to Cayirova in a home game 85-102. Cedi Osman rolled over Kapakli Spor on the road 80-61. Final Spor was crushed by Erokspor on its own court 81-108. Haremspor beat Fenerbahce 2 in Istanbul 99-82. Ormanspor was destroyed by Ankaragucu at home 61-85.
The most impressive stats of the last round was 21 points and 8 rebounds by CJ Elleby of Ankaragucu.



Sigortam.net - TED Ankara 79-87

Very important is a home loss of third ranked Sigortam.net (21-9) against twelfth ranked TED Ankara (14-16) on Saturday night. Balikesir BBS held Cagdas BS to an opponent 25.0 percent shooting from the field compared to 44.4 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Cagdas BS 47-33 including a 34-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American guard Alonzo Verge Jr (190-1998, college: Nebraska, agency: Octagon Europe) who had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 9 rebounds and 11 assists. It was a great shooting night for Cayirova especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. Erokspor made 21-of-23 free shots (91.3 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 33 assists comparing to just 17 passes made by Final Spor's players. Americans were the main players on the court. The best player for the winners was point guard Jordon Crawford (168-1990, college: BGSU, agency: Slash Sports) who had a double-double by scoring 14 points, 15 assists and 4 steals (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!). Center Jeremy Simmons (204-1989, college: Charleston) chipped in 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (on 10-of-11 shooting from the field). Simmons is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Haremspor looked well-organized offensively handing out 30 assists. The best player for the winners was American guard Duffy Jorden Randell (186-1996, college: N.Texas) who had a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 assists.
