Tymofeienko named MVP as Dnipro grind past Kyiv-Basket for third straight Ukrainian title-Apr 30, 2026
Dnipro claimed their third consecutive Superliga GGBET championship on Wednesday, grinding out a 60-50 victory over Kyiv-Basket at PS Veneto in Kyiv to complete a 2-0 sweep of the best-of-three finals. The title is Dnipro's fourth overall under head coach Volodymyr Koval, who was named the league's best coach for the third consecutive season. Captain Stanislav Tymofeienko (205-F-1989) was named the 2025-26 Superliga GGBET Most Valuable Player after averaging 15.9 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game with a league-best 19.0 efficiency rating across the season. In the clincher, the veteran contributed seven points, eight rebounds, and five steals in an all-around display that epitomized Dnipro's defensive identity. The decisive game was a wild, momentum-swinging affair. Kyiv-Basket started brilliantly, winning the first quarter 22-17 behind the scoring of Yehor Sushkin. But the second quarter was a catastrophe for the hosts — Kyiv-Basket managed just three points in the entire period without a single made field goal, and Dnipro surged into a 37-25 halftime lead. Dnipro pushed the advantage to 17 points early in the third quarter, but Kyiv-Basket mounted a remarkable rally. With Sushkin and Denys Denys Klevzunyk (195-SG-2000, agency: BIG) carrying the load — and only six players seeing meaningful minutes for the exhausted hosts — Kyiv-Basket stormed back to win the third quarter 21-8 and retake the lead heading into the final period. But the comeback had consumed Kyiv-Basket's remaining energy. In the fourth quarter, the hosts could muster just four points as Dnipro's deeper rotation and defensive pressure reasserted control. Yevhenii Sorochan (197-SG-2000) and Serhii Zahreba (214-C-1994, agency: BIG) each scored 13 points for the champions — Zahreba adding nine rebounds — while Ihor Dubonenko (197-SF-1998, agency: BIG) contributed eight points off the bench and Volodymyr Koniev (203-F-1989) added seven with his customary playmaking. Sushkin led all scorers with 14 points and was named the winner of the Oleksandr Salnikov Prize as the league's leading scorer (16.5 PPG for the season). Yaroslav Karpiuk (201-F-2003) posted a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds in defeat, and Denys Klevzunyk had 10 points with eight rebounds from Maksim Sandul (207-F/C-1991, agency: BIG). Four of five All-Superliga Team selections were announced following the final, split evenly between the two finalists: Sushkin (16.5 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 4.7 APG) and Denys Klevzunyk (14.7 PPG, 6.5 RPG) from Kyiv-Basket, alongside Tymofeienko (15.9 PPG, 5.5 RPG) and Koniev (12.1 PPG, 4.7 RPG, 3.8 APG) from Dnipro. The fifth spot will be determined after the bronze-medal series between Rivne-OSHVSM and Kharkivski Sokoly concludes on May 2. Eurobasket.com All-Ukrainian Superleague Awards 2026-May 1, 2026
