Tim-Scuf edged the 2007 champions Dnipro in the decisive fifth game of the Final series to clinch the Superleague title. The Kyiv outfit saved the day at the capital winning the fourth game and forcing the title decider. They extended the winning streak in Dnepropetrovsk beating the regular season champions and snatching the crown. The encounter turned into a real drama full of lead changes and seesaw action. The lead changed hands for 5 times in the opening stanza before Olga Lyashkova (185-G-80, agency: LBM Management) and Maryna Sazonenko (172-G-86, college: Oregon St.) nailed 5 points to cap the frame at 27:21 for the hosts. The home team maintained the advantage throughout the second stanza. Olga Lyashkova and Olga Dubrovina (170-G-87) teamed up for 5 points in a row at the end of the frame and Dnipro went into the dressing room enjoying a 10-point buffer. Yelena Savina (186-F-84) and Inna Krishen (182-F-84) trimmed the deficit to 5 points early in the third period. Later Jennifer Fleischer (191-C-84, agency: LBM Management, college: Pennsylvania) nailed a jumper and Inna Krishen came up with a trey to give the visitors a 53:52 lead. The teams traded baskets to complete the third stanza all square at 58. The teams combined for only 6 points in the starting five and a half minutes of the fourth period and then Olga Lyashkova nailed a jump shot to knot it at 62. Mariya Shal (182-G-84) and Lamisha Augustine (186-F-82, agency: LBM Management, college: San Jose St.) scored 4 consecutive points for Tim-Scuf to give them to a 66:62 advantage with less than 3 minutes left in regulation. Inna Yegorova (173-G-82) followed with 3 straight free throws to put the visitors up by 7 points and they proved unassailable for Dnipro. The hosts cut the gap to 3 points on back-to-back trebles from Anna Pokoiova but it was as close as the home side could get. Lamisha Augustine and Jennifer Fleischer sealed the winning outcome for Tim-Scuf from charity stripe.

Kozachka triumphs in the Cup Final

Kozachka handled the defending Ukrainian Superleague champions and Cup holders Dnipro to win the National Cup title. The game lived up to the highest expectations as the teams fought bravely throughout the encounter and the winner was decided in the final minutes. Dnipro and Kozachka traded the baskets early in the game with neither side able to clear off to a decent distance. Natalia Silyanova (173-G-71) and Olena Fenko (187-F-76) gave Kozachka a 14:10 lead midway through the quarter. Zaporozhe team secured an advantage and lead by as many as 3 points after 10 minutes of action. Oksana Kisilova (187-F-88) came up with 4 points for Dnipro early in the second quarter and put her team up 24:23. The lead than changed hands for 5 times before Anna Pokoiova (188-F-87) and Olga Lyashkova (185-G-80, agency: LBM Management) sealed the winning outcome for Dnipro in the first half at 41:36. Lyashkova fired from downtown to open the third frame. Dnipro maintained the gap throughout the term but Olena Fenko managed to cap the period with a three-pointer for Kozachka to trail by 3 points entering the fourth quarter. Olga Lyashkova once stepped up for Dnipro to enlarge the buffer to 5 points at the start of the final stanza. However Kozachka stayed contestant as Natalia Isachenko (183-G-79) and Olena Fenko trimmed the difference to a single point. Soon Olena Fenko converted two free throws and Kozachka surged ahead 59:58. The game once again turned into to-and-fro movement with the intrigue heating up. Olena Fenko completed a three-point play and Natalia Isachenko added a jumper for Kozachka to go up 72:68 with just over 3 minutes remaining. Irina Biriuk (178-G-78) later connected from the outside to widen the gap to 7 points. Olena Fenko immediately made it 77:68 with 2 minutes left in regulation. Dnipro could not recover in the time left. Anna Pokoiova missed a couple of three-point attempts and Kozachka secured the victory dethroning Dnipro as the Cup holders.
Olena Fenko led Kozachka with 17 points. Natalia Isachenko accounted for 16 points and 11 boards, while Irina Biriuk dropped 14 points and pulled down 6 boards for the winners. Olga Lyashkova answered with game-high 19 points and 8 boards for Dnipro. Yuliya Yakhina (187-C-80) netted 15 points in a losing case.
Yuliya Yakhina of Dnipro was trumped the MVP of the Cup Final Four.
