Kozachka completed their sweep of their Final series against Tim-Scuf yesterday. The team needed to win in Kyiv in the third game to celebrate the title. Charity Egenti (191-C-85, college: Stephen F. Austin) was once again unstoppable with 31 points and 18 rebounds. Natalia Silyanova (173-G-71) added 17 points for the winners. Kateryna Dorogobuzova (187-F-90) responded with 19 points and 13 rebounds for Tim-Scuf. Inna Kochubei (173-G-82) had 16 points in the losing effort. Iryna Biryuk (178-G-78, agency: Promotex) was named the MVP of the championship. Natalia Silyanova was trumped the Best Guard in the tournament. Kateryna Dorogobuzova won the title of the Best Forward, while Charity Egenti was awarded with the title of the Best Center. Kozachka-ZALK held off Tim-Scuf in the final game to clinch the Cup title. The Cup Final Four was held in Kyiv and Kozachka faced Chaika at the semifinal stage. The Ukrainian most renowned team gained a comprehensive 97:66 win to advance into the Final. Iryna Biryuk (178-G-78, agency: Promotex) nailed 27 points to lead the charge. Natalia Silyanova (173-G-71) produced 22 points and 8 steals for the winners. Chaika answered with 14 points from Tetiana Panchenk-Stakhova (173-G-79). Tim-Scuf paved their way to the title decider with a 95:64 win over Olimp-NAEK. Inna Kochubei (173-G-82) dropped 21 points and issued 5 assists to lead Tim-Scuf. Ol'ha Maznichenko (186-F-91) added 18 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Beloziorova and Shnipor answered with 11 points apiece for Olimp-NAEK in defeat. Finally Kozachka-ZALK and Tim-Scuf clashed in a highly-anticipated final game. The game was a real treat for real basketball gourmets. Kozachka-ZALK dominated for the bigger part of the game however Tim-Scuf denied the deficit and closed the gap after two wild treys from Inna Kochubei late in regulation. But the experience helped Kozachka-ZALK to prevail. The teams headed into the extra period and Kozachka-ZALK eked out a tough 91:90 victory in the final seconds. Charity Egenti (191-C-85, college: Stephen F. Austin) came up with 26 points and 14 rebounds to lead Kozachka-ZALK. Iryna Biryuk contributed 20 points and 7 assists in the win. Krasnikova answered with game-high 29 points for Tim-Scuf. Inna Kochubei and Kateryna Dorogobuzova (187-F-90) added 22 points each in the loss. Iryna Biryuk was named the Ukrainian Cup Final Four MVP. |
