The victory marked the seventh title for the Mariupol team in their history. Hasan Rizvic (212-C-84) and Ramel Curry (191-G-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) knocked down 17 points apiece to lead the visitors. Budivelnyk confidently entered the game. Supported by the fans the Kyiv team maintained the lead throughout the starting frame. But Budivelnyk could gain only a 20:19 lead at the first break. Azovmash surged ahead early in the second frame but not for too long. Budivelnyk quickly restored advantage and raced to a 36:33 halftime lead. The teams stayed close throughout the third frame. Budivelnyk hung on to enter the fourth stanza ahead by two points 53:51. Azovmash opened the final quarter by four points in a row to step ahead. The lead changed hands for several times before Azovmash triggered a 7:0 run gaining a 67:60 cushion with under three minutes remaining. Budivelnyl could not get closer than four points in the reminder of the contest and had to surrender at the end. Alexander Skutyelnik (192-G-77) notched 11 points for Azovmash.
