Homentmen Beirut (DLBL) signed 25-year old U.S. Virgin Islands 201cm forward Mervin James (college: Rider). He is the second import player in the roster, with French Sidiki Kone signing earlier. James was the second best scorer at B.Braun Sheffield Sharks in the British SLB league last season, averaging 13.8ppg and 6.2rpg in 11 games. He was voted League Player of the Week. In the 2024-25 season, he played for Scorchers in the SLB, with impressive stats of 17.6ppg, 6.1rpg, and 1.6apg in 34 games. He also helped them reach the cup final. James briefly played for Egis Kormend in the Hungarian league.
Among many awards, James' team was the regular season runner-up in MAAC in 2023. James was also named to the A-Sun All-Tournament Team back in 2021 during his college time.
He graduated from Rider University in 2024 and it will be his third season in pro basketball. James played also for University of North Alabama for 2 years.
