Lara Rohkohl claims British WSLB Hoops Agents weekly honour

German Lara Rohkohl (190-F-2002) had a very impressive game in the last round for Essex Rebels and that's her to receive a Hoops Agents Player of the Week award for round 5.
The 24-year old forward had a double-double of 35 points and 16 rebounds, while her team was edged out by Newcastle E. (#5, 3-2) 83-82. Rebels maintains the 8th position in British WSLB. The season is still in it's early stage, so the team may have a chance to improve their current position in the standings. They lost 4 games and had just one victory. Rohkohl turned to be Rebels's top player in her first season with the team. Brigham Young University graduate has very impressive stats this year. Rohkohl is in league's top in points (5th best: 20.2ppg) and averages solid 1.4bpg and 59.7% FGP.

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was young American guard Alyssa Durazo-Frescas (170-G-2002) of Cardiff Met Archers. Durazo-Frescas impressed basketball fans with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Bad luck as Archers lost that game 79-96 to league's leader Manchester (#2, 5-0). Cardiff MA. managed to keep the same 6th spot in the standings. Her team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 2-3 record. Durazo-Frescas is a newcomer at Cardiff MA. and it seems she did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders. Grand Canyon University alumni Durazo-Frescas played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

The third best performed player last round was American Jakayla Johnson (175-G-2001) of Newcastle Eagles (#5). Johnson showcased her all-around game by recording 24 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the last round. She was a key player of Eagles, leading her team to a 83-82 win against the lower-ranked Essex R. (#8, 1-4). Newcastle E. needs these victories very badly if they think about getting closer to top teams. Their record at this point is 3 victories and 2 lost games. Johnson has a great season in United Kingdom. After only 5 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in points with 18.4ppg (9th best) and rebounds with 5.6rpg (2nd best).
