Round 11 (Regular Season): TTT Riga beat RSU in a derby game

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in WBBL. Here is the last round review presented by LBM Management.

The most interesting game of round 11 was a derby match between two teams from Latvia. First ranked TTT Riga outleveled visiting RSU (3-10) 103-60. TTT Riga dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to RSU's 22. TTT Riga forced 26 RSU turnovers. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 31 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by RSU's players. Great defensive blocking was one of the keys in this match when TTT Riga made 8 blocks. The best player for the winners was guard Madara Smite (170-2006) who scored 10 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists and 7 steals. Vanesa Jasa (180-2003) chipped in 16 points and 6 assists. Anete Ozolina (-2008) produced 19 points for the guests. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. TTT Riga (12-2) have an impressive series of six victories in a row. Defending Latvian champion maintains first place. RSU lost eighth consecutive game. They dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. TTT Riga are looking forward to face Siauliai (#5) at home in the next round. RSU will play against TSA Tallinn and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Riga. First ranked Latvian TTT Riga faced 3rd placed Lithuanian Neptunas. Host TTT Riga (12-2) defeated guests from Klaipeda (6-2) 91-86. It ended at the same time the four-game winning streak of Neptunas. Vanesa Jasa (180-2003) orchestrated the victory by scoring 29 points and 7 assists. Nyamer Diew contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Brigita Sinickaite (175-2001) answered with 24 points and 9 assists for Neptunas. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for TTT Riga. Defending Latvian champion maintains first place with 12-2 record. Neptunas at the other side dropped to the fourth position with two games lost. TTT Riga will play against Siauliai (#5) at home in the next round. Neptunas will play against TSA Tallinn and hope to get back on the winning track.

TTT Riga's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Gintare Paulauskaite responded with a double-double by scoring 21 points, 12 rebounds and 4 assists. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for TTT Riga. Defending Latvian champion maintains first place with 12-2 record. Loser Aistes-LSMU dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. TTT Riga will meet at home Siauliai (#5) in the next round. Aistes-LSMU will have a break next round.

Other games of round 11 were quite predictable and ended without any surprises. Here they are:
Alytaus defeated TSA Tallinn in a road game 70-62. Siauliai beat TSA Tallinn at home 87-75. RSU lost to Alytaus on the opponent's court 60-73. LCC Klaipeda managed to outperform TSA Tallinn in a home game 79-77.

TSA Tallinn - Alytaus 62-70

The game between closely ranked teams ended with 9th ranked Estonian TSA Tallinn's (2-9) home loss to eighth ranked Lithuanian Alytaus (3-6) 62-70 on Saturday. Alytaus made 22-of-29 free shots (75.9 percent) during the game. Alytaus outrebounded TSA Tallinn 43-20 including a 31-13 advantage in defensive rebounds. It was a great evening for Amalija Pasajevaite (173-2003) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists. Lithuanian point guard Milda Sauliute (175-1981) helped adding 12 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists. Four Alytaus players scored in double figures. Guard Laura Grunmann (175-2008) responded with 35 points (!!!) and 4 steals (was perfect 10-for-10 from the free throw line !!!) and power forward Lisandra Vetesina (183-2007) scored 9 points. TSA Tallinn's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Alytaus moved-up to sixth place. TSA Tallinn lost their third game in a row. They keep the ninth position with nine games lost. Alytaus will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. TSA Tallinn will play against RSU (#7) in Riga and it may be a tough game between close rivals.

No shocking result in a game when fifth ranked Lithuanian Siauliai (4-4) defeated at home 9th ranked Estonian TSA Tallinn (2-9) 87-75 on Saturday. Siauliai made 27-of-33 free shots (81.8 percent) during the game. They also forced 22 TSA Tallinn turnovers. Siauliai looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists. It was a great evening for forward Ugne Grigaliunaite (184-2004) who led her team to a victory scoring 23 points and 9 rebounds. American guard Kayla Cooper (183, college: Albany) helped adding 18 points (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Guard Laura Grunmann (175-2008) responded with 19 points and 4 steals and power forward Lisandra Vetesina (183-2007) scored 13 points and 5 rebounds. TSA Tallinn's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Siauliai maintains fifth place with 4-4 record. TSA Tallinn lost their third game in a row. There was a minor upset when 6th ranked Latvian RSU (3-10) was defeated on the road by eighth ranked Lithuanian Alytaus (3-6) 73-60 on Sunday. It was a great evening for Karolina Kazociunaite (180-1999) who led her team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 10 rebounds. Power forward Saule Mikelionyte (183-2000) helped adding 16 points. Four Alytaus players scored in double figures. Latvian point guard Emilija Trofimenko (168-2007) responded with 20 points and forward Paula Cirsa (176-2003) scored 15 points. RSU's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Alytaus moved-up to sixth place. RSU lost their eighth game in a row. They dropped to the seventh position with ten games lost. Very predictable result when fourth ranked Lithuanian LCC Klaipeda (7-2) edged at home 9th ranked Estonian TSA Tallinn (2-9) 79-77 on Sunday. However just two-point win is not that big difference and the fans of host team counted on more convincing victory. LCC Klaipeda made 28-of-34 free shots (82.4 percent) during the game. LCC Klaipeda outrebounded TSA Tallinn 39-25 including 25 on the defensive glass. LCC Klaipeda looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists.
