Semifinals
Turkey - Spain 83-79 OT
It was quite interesting game for this semifinal game, Turkey won it after interesting over time by 4 (10:6) in extra five minutes. It was pretty equal game by points, but Turkey catched more rebounds (46 vs. Spanish 34). Sergi Martinez (201-PF-99) scored 20 points and had 11 rebounds, while Miguel Gonzalez (201-G/F-99) had 15 points and 7 rebounds for Spain, for winning side Onuralp Bitim (196-G-99) scored 23 points and had 10 rebounds and Ahmet Duran (205-C-99) scored 18 points and 14 rebounds for also double double game. Index rating was also equal, Turkey had 44 and Spain 43. Turkish players will be going into gold medal game versus USA.

USA - Lithuania 98-70
USA proved that the are favorite on this game by winning this game with closely 30 point difference. They flushed 98 points to Lithuanian basket while Europeans scored only 70. Gary Trent (195-G-99) led USA to win with 15 points and 4 rebounds, also Markus Howard (185-G-99) scored 16 points with 2 rebounds and Collin Sexton (187-G-99) scored 15 points and had 6 rebounds. For Lithuania Ignas Sargiunas (193-G-99) scored 15 points with 3 rebounds. Lithuania will be going for bronze medal game against Spanish side. That will be basketball derby for 3rd place game.
Places 5-8
Canada - Australia 96-58
Rowan Barrett Jr. (201-SF-99) led Canada to win with 23 points and he was followed from Ignas Brazdeikis (198-G/F-99) with 18 points and 5 rebounds, also Danilo Djuricic (200-F-99) had great game with 17 points and 4 rebounds. For losing side most efficient was Samson Froling (207-F/C-00) with 12 points and 9 rebounds. Australia will be playing against South Korea for game which will decide winner of 7th place on this tournament.

South Korea - France 61-119

France dominated the game against South Korea and goes into game for trying to win at least fifth place of tournament. They didn't let South Koreans to win any quarter of this game, at the end they have huge difference alongside their name by winning the match with 58 point difference. For France every player scored at least for points, they scored 119 points in total and made index ranking 142 and South Korea had only 30. For Asian side, most efficient was Seomoon Sechan (180-F-00) with 25 points. For France we have few great performance, Jaylen Hoard (202-SF-99) have 22 points and 5 rebounds, Joshua Mballa (198-F-99) had 18 points and 10 rebounds. France will be playing against Canada in game for fifth place.

China - Bosnia 84-88
Again, Dzanan Musa (203-G-99, agency: BeoBasket) dominated the game with 33 points and with 9 rebounds. He was followed by Vedran Mirkovic (202-C-99) with 11 points and 5 rebounds, also Sani Campara (188-PG-99) had 19 points. That was enough for Bosnian side for winning 9th place after they win this game against China. For Asian side Chen Peidong (204-F/C-99) had huge game with 30 points and 8 rebounds. Zhu Rongzhen (210-C-99) also had nice game with 15 points and 9 rebounds with total index of 19. China finished tournament on 10th place.
Places 11-12
Finland - Dominican Republic 56-65
Miguel Diaz (192-G/F-99) led Dominican Republic to 11th place on this tournament with 18 points and 7 rebounds. For losing Finland side, Mikael Jantunen (200-F-00) scored 9 points and have 11 rebounds. Only one point needed to him for double double performance. With this win Dominican Rep. was on 11th place and Finland finished World Cup on 12th place.
Places 13-14
Argentina - Taiwan 67-64
It was close game and only 4 point Taiwan was far away from making surprise on this game, but Argentina was better with 67:64, by winning last two quarters by one one and three points and that how wins this game and winning also 13th place. Lautaro Lopez (188-PG-99) scored 23 points and have 6 rebounds, for Taiwan, Lin Ting-Chien (190-SG-99) have huge game with 29 points and 7 rebounds.
Places 15-16
Egypt - Mali 38-61
Mali win against Egypt and won 15th place. They dominated entire game by winning all part of the games, for total win of 23 points. Abdoul Coulibaly (202-F-00) scored 22 points and 11 rebounds for double double performance, for Egypt, Ahmed Khalaf (206-F/C-99) scored 12 points and cached 13 rebounds.


USA won 4th gold in the row on World Cup U17 - Jul 3, 2016

FINAL
USA - Turkey 96-56
USA did it again. They won 4th gold in the row at World Cup U17. They dominated against Turkey this time with huge win by +40 points difference. They didn't allowed Turkey any quarter as they win all of them for huge win at the end. They were better in rebounds also with 10 (47-37) and also in assists 20-8 for USA in that category. Bench players for USA scored almost as starting five (49:47) while for Turkey they are equal, both scored by 28 points. One interesting fact is that USA had huge amount of steals (20!) and big difference in assists by 20:8. In all part of the game USA were better so it can be say that they more then deserved this gold medal. Leaders on this game were Collin Sexton (187-G-99) who flushed 16 points and added 8 assists to his name, and Gary Trent (195-G-99) scored 17 points with 4 rebounds in total for him. For losing side Ragip Atar (210-C-99) had 13 points and 8 rebounds.

Places 3-4
Lithuania - Spain 81-63
Lithuania clinch third place and won bronze medal game on this tournament. All was decided in starting ten minutes when Lithuanian side make it huge difference by +15 lead. In second quarter they were tied (21:21), while in first ten minutes of second half Lithuania again dominated game with huge quarter win by 12 (22:10), that was just too much for Spain who only make difference a bit smaller with wining last quarter by 9 (15:24) but that was only enough for final 81:63 for Lithuanian side. They were leaded by Arnas Velicka (192-PG-99) with 18 points and 8 rebounds, Ignas Sargiunas (193-G-99) scored 14 points and Lukas Kisunas (205-C-99) scored 12 with 7 rebounds. For losing Spanish team Sergi Martinez (201-PF-99) scored 17 with 15 rebounds and Joel Parra (201-F-00) nipped 15 points with 5 rebounds. Spain finish tournament on fourth place.

Places 5-6
France - Canada 68-99
Ignas Brazdeikis (198-G/F-99) with 26 points scored and 10 rebounds in his double double performance lead Canada to winning fifth place on World Cup. Danilo Djuricic (200-F-99) helped him with 14 points and Oluwasimisola Shittu (210-C-99) had 18 points and 8 rebounds. Canada was just too good this time for France who scored only 68 points versus Canadian 99. For French team best was Jaylen Hoard (202-SF-99) with 17 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists, also Eddy Kayouloud (195-F-99) contributed for French team with 13 points.

Places 7-8
South Korea - Australia 76-83
Close game but at the end Australia won it by 7 points margin (83:76) against South Korea in battle for seventh place. Matthew Johns (201-F-99) scored 12 points and had 6 rebounds for Australia, Patrick Bines (198-F-99) contributed also with 13 points, while in South Korea, Lee Junghyun (185-G-99) had nice performance with 21 points, 4 rebounds and 5 assists and Lee Hyunjung (192-F-00) scored 18 points on their last game of this tournament. Australia won seventh, while South Korea finished World Cup on eight place.




USA, Spain, Lithuania and Turkey advancing into semifinals in Zaragoza - Jul 1, 2016

Quarterfinals
Lithuania - France 73-72 OT
Huge start for Lithuania as they won first ten minutes with 25:10 but then they just stooped. France get some new energy and start playing better in next three quarters which they all won. They won second quarter with 3, third quarter with 10 and last quarter with 2 points...but that was enough only for over time in this thriller game. In over time, somehow Lithuania gained power and won extra five minutes with 10:9 for total win of 73:72. They will play semifinal game against USA. Best for winning team was Arnas Velicka (192-PG-99) 23 points and 5 assists, while in France Jaylen Hoard (202-SF-99) had 21 points and 8 rebounds.

Turkey - Canada 80-74
Rowan Barrett Jr. (201-SF-99) had huge game on Quarterfinals against Turkey, he scored 33 points for Canada but that was not enough for his National Team as Turkey were better for 6 points (80:74). In Turkey Ragip Atar (210-C-99) had amazing performance with 28 points and 15 (!) rebounds. He was followed from Ahmet Duran (205-C-99) with 14 points and 14 rebounds. Probably thing that decided this game was points from the bench. Turkey scored 37 while Canada scored only 8 points from the bench. Also, entire game was pretty tied except last ten minutes where Turkey won with 27:20 for total of 80:74 for European team.

Spain - Australia 74-63
Sergi Martinez (201-PF-99) lead his National Team to important win and advancing into Semifinals with 26 points and 9 rebounds. True MVP of the game. He was followed with Miguel Gonzalez (201-G/F-99) with 11 points and 8 rebounds. For losing side Tom Fullarton (200-F-99) scored 16 points and catches 9 rebounds. Last quarter was decider who will go into next round and Spain won last ten minutes with 27:16. They will face Turkey in semifinal.

USA - South Korea 133-81
USA was favorite at this game and they prove it on court what everybody was thinking. They dominated entire game, they won all four quarters without any bigger problems and they win the game with magnificent difference in their favor (+52). Interesting fact from the game is that USA scored 133 points and bench players scored more then half (77). Collin Sexton (187-G-99) lead USA offensive with 24 points and also Carteare Gordon (203-F-00) had 16 points and 7 rebounds. For South Korea best was Yang Jae Min (198-F/C-99) with 14 points.
Places 9-16
Egypt - Finland 73-84
Finland overcame Egypt 84-73. Europeans took early lead, but after strong second quarter Egyptians were up 41-34 in the half. Then came third quarter where Finland outscored opponents 33-14 and keep the lead until the end of the game. Elias Valtonen (192-G/F-99) was a star of the game with 24 points. Ahmed Khalaf (206-F/C-99) responded with 20 points, 13 rebounds and 4 blocks.

Argentina - China 74-80
China booked their date against Finland in the Classification 9-12 by knocking off win less Argentina 80-74 as Zhu Rongzhen (210-C-99) had 16 points and 15 rebounds and Li Xiangbo (203-F-99) added 16 points and 10 rebounds. Argentina were topped by Lautaro Lopez (188-PG-99) and Francisco Caffaro (212-C-00) both scoring 19 points.

Mali - Dominican Republic 70-74
Dominican Republic got their first taste of U17 Worlds victory with a 74-70 defeat of Mali. Alanzo Frink (203-F-00) collected 24 points and 11 rebounds while Yeison Rivera (178-PG-99) Rivera scored 16 points and Miguel Diaz (192-G/F-99) had 12 points and 10 rebounds. Mali will face Taiwan in the Classification 13-16.

Taiwan - Bosnia 75-105
Less than a day after shedding tears of disappointment, Bosnia and Herzegovina star Dzanan Musa (203-G-99, agency: BeoBasket) grabbed a bit of consolation by breaking the FIBA U17 World Championship scoring record with 50 points in the Classification 9-16 game against Chinese Taipei.
Musa unleashed his disappointment on the Asians as he scored 50 points in 27:15 minutes. He made 18-of-26 shots from the field, went 11-of-15 from the free-throw line, grabbed 7 rebounds, handed out 4 assists and drew 12 fouls. Bosnia and Herzegovina will take on the Dominican Republic in the Classification 9-12.
Places 13-16
Argentina - Egypt 76-73 3OT
This was a real thriller of the game. Argentina and Egypt played 3 (!!) over times. Argentina at the end won it by 3 and it was great display for both National Teams. Lautaro Lopez (188-PG-99) was leading Argentinians with 20 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists while in Egypt Ahmed Khalaf (206-F/C-99) scored 20 points and had 22 (!!) rebounds.

Mali - Taiwan 61-77
Taiwan win this game for placement from 13 to 16 place with easy win against Mali. 77 points was just enough for this type of opponent as Mali scored only 61. Tang Wei-Chieh (190-SF-99) was most efficient with 18 points and 9 rebounds, he also added 5 assists while in Mali best was Lassana Haidara (197-SF-99) with 13 points.

Places 9-12
Dominican Republic - Bosnia 73-96
Another MVP performance by
Dzanan Musa (203-G-99, agency: BeoBasket) for Bosnian side. 34 points and 10 rebounds was something that he is use to do in last few games. Huge game for him. He was also great from the field (8/13 for 2PT). Also Aljosa Jankovic (200-SG-99) had 15 points and 18 rebounds and 10 assists. Amazing performance with triple-double for him. For Dominican Republic best was Alanzo Frink (203-F-00) with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Bosnia scored almost 100 points on this game (96) and they let Dominican Republic score only 73. Bosnia won 3 out of 4 quarter on this game.

China - Finland 77-57
Wang Yibo (185-G-99) comes from the bench and was leading China with 21 points and 4 rebounds for winning against Finland on this match. For Europeans,
Miika Heinonen (185-G-99) was best with 11 points and 6 rebounds. China was losing side on half time with 10 points difference but they made it +30 in second half with winning +19 in third quarter and +11 in last ten minutes for final win of +20 (77:57) for Asian side.


Review of 1/8 Finals in Zaragoza - Jun 28, 2016

Australia - Bosnia 75-72
Australia survived a thriller with Bosnia and Herzegovina to reach the Quarter-Finals of the 2016 FIBA U17 World Championship. Dragan Elkaz (192-G/F-99) scored 17 of his 25 points in the fourth quarter as Australia beat Bosnia and Herzegovina 75-72. Elkaz nailed four of his six three-pointers in the final period and also finished with 8 rebounds and 3 assists. Dzanan Musa (203-G-99, agency: BeoBasket) led the Bosnians with 34 points while Sani Campara (188-PG-99) scored 17 but he missed three three-pointers and a lay-up in the final 40 seconds.

Taiwan - Spain 60-112
Spain, didn't even need injured top gun Miguel Gonzalez (201-G/F-99) in cruising to a 112-60 victory over Chinese Taipei. Sergi Martinez (201-PF-99) paced Spain with 25 points while Joel Parra (201-F-00) and Osas Ehigiator (203-C-99) had 17 each.

Canada - Dominican Republic 79-52
Canada picked up comfortable victory to set up a Quarter-Final showdown. Ignas Brazdeikis (198-G/F-99) and Simi Shittu each had double-doubles in the Canadians' 79-52 win against Dominican Republic. Anderson Mirambeaux (196-F-99) had 16 points and 8 rebounds for Latin Americans.

Turkey - Mali 77-58
Turkey picked up an easy win over Mali. Ragip Atar (210-C-99) scored 16 points while Ahmet Duran (205-C-99) had 8 points and 19 rebounds. Abdoul Coulibaly (202-F-00) delivered 19 points for Africans.

Finland - France 38-60
Jaylen Hoard (202-SF-99) poured in 21 points, 4 rebounds and 3 assists as France hammered Finland 60-38. Finnish players scored only 2! points in third quarter.

Egypt - Lithuania 65-80
The Lithuanians got 9 three-pointers and 34 points combined from Lukas Uleckas (196-SG-99) and Ignas Sargiunas (193-G-99) in an 80-65 victory over Egypt. Ahmed Khalaf (206-F/C-99) collected 26 points, 12 rebounds and 8 blocks for Egypt and Esam Mostafa (196-PF-99) had 13 points and 18 rebounds in the loss.

China - South Korea 70-75
The other nail-biter saw Korea knock off China 75-70 to reach the Final Eight for the first time. Lee Junghyun (185-G-99) scored 25 points while Shin Minsuk (197-C-99) and Yang Jae Min (198-F/C-99) had 18 apiece to pace the Koreans, who had beaten the Chinese in the Semi-Finals of the 2015 FIBA Asia U16 Championship. Korea will next take on the three-time undefeated reigning champions USA.

USA - Argentina 109-56
USA took care of Argentina with a 109-56 victory. Collin Sexton (187-G-99) and Carteare Gordon (203-F-00) had 14 points each to lead seven Americans in double figures. Francisco Caffaro (212-C-00) responded with 16 points for Argentina.




Review of Day 4 in Zaragoza - Jun 27, 2016

Group A
Turkey - Taiwan 76-56
Easy win for Turkey against team who after this game don't have any victory from three games - team of Taiwan. Turks are lead by Ahmet Duran (205-C-99) with 16 points and 15 rebounds, amazing performance was also done by Ragip Atar (210-C-99) with 8 points and 14 rebounds (10 defensive). In Taiwan, Lin Ting-Chien (190-SG-99) scored 15 points. First quarter was decided victory as Turkey won the first ten minutes with 29:11. After that entire game was equal but that difference from first quarter decided winning team.

USA - Egypt 104-57
Another win for USA and perfect score for them after 3 rounds on World Cup U17. They again dominated game with big victory, this time against Egypt who didn't had much chance against probably the most talented team on this competition. Troy Brown (198-G-99) led the USA team with 15 points and 11 rebounds, also we need to write that all players from USA scored at least 5 points. Another great performance come from Markus Howard (185-G-99) who scored 21 points and had 6 assists. In Egypt Ahmed Khalaf (206-F/C-99) scored 17 points with 7 rebounds and Tarek Raafat (187-G-99) scored 15 points. USA dominated in every segment of the game as they had 61 rebounds while Egypt had only 29. Egypt finished group with 1-2 record.

Group B
Mali - Lithuania 73-96
Lithuania flushed nearly 100 points in this game and they dominated against Mali playing great game. 50 rebounds for Lithuania, 26 assist for them and only 4 by Mali. Vitalijus Kozys (200-SF-99) lead Europeans with 20 points, while for African team Abdoul Coulibaly (202-F-00) had amazing performance with 29 points and 6 rebounds. Lithuania won three of four quarter on this game which was enough for really big win for their team with +23 points difference.

Argentina - Spain 49-59
Again great game for Spain and another victory for them on this tournament. They send Argentina to the bottom of the standings in group B as they have 0-3 and European team have 3-0. Spain started better, they go to half time with +12. Argentina showed how to respond in 3rd quarter with 19:11 win but last quarter was again better for Spain with 10:16 and that's for final result of 59:49 on Spanish side. In Spain Sergi Martinez (201-PF-99) had 19 points and 16 rebounds, truly amazing game for this Spanish young player. In Argentina Lautaro Lopez (188-PG-99) flushed 17 points and had 6 rebounds.

Group C
China - Canada 54-105
More then 50 points difference in this game for Canadian side. They won it with 105:54 against China who didn't had much chance against more then in the best mood for this game. France - Dominican Republic 78-48
Second win for France and they are now in Group D with 2-1, same as Bosnia. They win first quarter with 22:12 and that how let Dominican Republic that they have nothing to look for in this game. They only confirmed that in second quarter with another win with 21:12 and in 3rd with 18:6. They just have tied game in last ten minutes with win for Dominican Republic 18:17. France was leaded by Eddy Kayouloud (195-F-99) with 15 points and 5 rebounds and with Ivan Fevrier (200-F-99) with 14 points and 11 rebounds. In Dominican Republic Yeison Rivera (178-PG-99) scored 10 and Anderson Mirambeaux (196-F-99) scored 11 with 7 rebounds. Dominican Republic finished Group D without win (0-3).

Bosnia - South Korea 105-85
Bosnia nipped first position after this big win against South Korea. 20 points difference for Bosnian side leading from Dzanan Musa (203-G-99, agency: BeoBasket) with amazing performance, best of the night with 36 points and 11 rebounds for total ranking of 33. True MVP of this game. Also Sani Campara (188-PG-99) had amazing night with 25 points and 7 assists. For South Korea we also had one player with really big performance, Lee Junghyun (185-G-99) who scored 32 points and had 6 assists, and he was followed with Lee Hyunjung (192-F-00) 21 points.

Canada - Finland 92-68
Canada crushed Finland on this game. They at very beginning showed 'who is the boss' by winning first quarter with 37:22 and second one with 19:9 for going on half time with big lead 56:31. Rowan Barrett Jr. (201-SF-99). lead her team with 16 points and 10 rebounds and Ignas Brazdeikis (198-G/F-99) with 17 points and 8 rebounds. Finland responded via Andre Gustavson (184-PG-99) with 17 points and 5 rebounds.

China - Australia 90-72
China get first win on this tournament and it was big win against Australia by 18 point margin. Bai Haotian (192-G-99) lead Chinese team to the victory with 18 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. In away team best was Tom Fullarton (200-F-99) with amazing performance of 25 points and 5 rebounds for index rating 17 in total. For Australian team this was second lose on this tournament.

Dominican Republic - South Korea 71-77
South Korea stayed perfect and recorded another win on World Cup this year. They win against Dominican Republic by 6 points. It was ups and downs in this game. South Korea won first quarter by 6, then Dominican Republic won second quarter by 7 and they had lead on half time. In third quarter South Korea comes with more freshness and won this period of the game by 5 (16:21) which was enough for the new lead and in last period they just confirmed win on the game by wining last quarter with 2 points. Shin Minsuk (197-C-99) lead his team to the victory with 19 points and 7 rebounds and Anderson Mirambeaux (196-F-99) had good response with 24 points and 22 rebounds at Dominican Republic team.

France - Bosnia 84-65
Jaylen Hoard (202-SF-99) with 23 points and Yves Pons (192-F/G-99) with 22 points lead France to second victory on tournament, this time they are a lot of better then Bosnian and Herzegovian team. Big talent from Bosnia, Dzanan Musa (203-G-99, agency: BeoBasket) nipped 19 points for losing side. France was just better on this game, they played smarter with great shooting from the field. They scored 24 from 50 attempts for 2 points and 6 from 22 for 3 points. They are also better in rebound so this victory of France was not a surprise at all.




Review of Day 2 in Zaragoza - Jun 25, 2016

Group A
Taiwan - Egypt 71-88
Abdelrahman Abdelmaged (190-SG-00) lead the Egypt in first victory of this tournament against Taiwan. He nipped 16 points and had 11 rebounds for his double double record at this game. He was followed by Esam Mostafa (196-PF-99) with 15 points and 13 rebounds and also, Ahmed Khalaf (206-F/C-99) had huge game as he score 11 points and had big rebound game with 16 rebounds. In Taiwan Lin Ting-Chien (190-SG-99) had amazing performance with 30 points alongside his name and 6 rebounds. Even his great game, that was not enough for Taiwan as Egypt had more then a good game.

Turkey - USA 66-84
USA stayed with perfect record after this win while Turkey is now at 1-1. USA won 3 out of 4 quarters this game and had domination in all segments. Biggest was in the rebounds as they catch 44, while Turkey had only 21 rebounds for 40 minutes of the game. Collin Sexton (187-G-99) was a leader of this game for USA as he scored 20 points and 4 assists while in Turkey Erkin Senel (191-G/F-99) was the best individual in there with 10 points and 5 rebounds for only 13 minutes on the floor.

Lithuania - Spain 61-65
On European derby, Spain was better this time with 4 point game win this time. Lithuania had it better opening of the match as they won first quarter with 18:9 and they go to half time break with 40:32. After that Spain put another energy of the court and they make amazing comeback as they won third and fourth quarter allowing Lithuania only 21 points in second half time and they scored 33. That was enough for final result of 61:65 for Spanish side. Sergi Martinez (201-PF-99) was true MVP of the game as he scored 16 points and have same amounts of rebounds (!). Miguel Gonzalez (201-G/F-99) followed him with 19 points. In Lithuania Lukas Uleckas (196-SG-99) had 12 points and Tomas Balciunas (201-F-00) had 6 points and 10 rebounds.

Mali - Argentina 56-47
Mali make history. They won it against Argentina for now 1-1 record and they send Argentina to the bottom of the standings in Group B with 0-2. Small amount of the points in entire game, but Mali know how to play defense on this game as they allowed Argentina only 47 points for 40 minutes played. Mali won second quarter with 19:11 and that was most crucial part of the game, after that Argentina didn't know how to respond and Mali was winning side with 56:47 victory. Lassana Haidara (197-SF-99) had 13 points for Mali, while Lautaro Lopez (188-PG-99) scored 18 points with 12 rebounds for losing side.

Egypt - Turkey 61-71
Turkey rallied past Egypt in Group A opener. Mert Konuk (194-SG-00) posted 13 points for the winning side. Egypt jumped to a massive 27:8 lead after the opening quarter. However Turkey responded with a 51:17 run in the next two periods to pull ahead. They maintained the advantage throughout the final frame and marched to the victory. Ragip Atar (210-C-99) chipped in 11 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for Turkey. Tarek Raafat (187-G-99) responded with 26 points for Egypt.

USA - Taiwan 119-45
The USA got to the winning start of the championship. The defending champions cruised past Taiwan in the opener. Seven players scored in double digits for the winners. Kevin Knox II (201-F-99) led the charge with 15 points. The USA piled up a 67:24 halftime lead and never looked back en route to the victory. Wendell Carter (208-F/C-99) produced 14 points for the winning side. Lin Ting-Chien (190-SG-99) responded with 12 points for Taiwan.

Spain - Mali 86-55
Spain outmuscled Mali at the start of the tournament. Miguel Gonzalez (201-G/F-99) came up with 20 points to lead the European side. Spain eked out an 18:17 lead after the first period. They held Mali to just 14 points in the next two periods to boost the margin at 29-point mark. Spain sank 26 points in the fourth quarter and eased to the victory. Josep Busquets (197-G/F-99) produced 19 points for the winners. Blaise Keita (210-C-99) responded with 18 points and 9 rebounds for Mali.

Argentina - Lithuania 57-74
Lithuania opened their World Championship campaign on a high note. They outscored Argentina in the opener. Ignas Sargiunas (193-G-99) stepped up with 15 points for the Baltic team. Lithuania rallied to a 41:26 halftime lead. They stayed in charge throughout the second half and coasted to the win. Lukas Uleckas (196-SG-99) chipped in 12 points for Lithuania. Lautaro Lopez (188-PG-99) responded with 20 points and 8 rebounds for Argentina.

Finland - China 65-58
Finland held off China for the opening victory in Zaragoza. Elias Valtonen (192-G/F-99) delivered 22 points to lead the effort. Finland recorded a 23:12 lead after ten minutes. China pulled within 5 points at the final intermission. However Finland held their opponents to just 15 points in the fourth stanza and marched to the victory. Andre Gustavson (184-PG-99) netted 18 points and 7 rebounds in the win. China answered with 14 points and 10 rebounds from Li Xiangbo (203-F-99).

Australia - Canada 78-81
Canada held off Australia in the tight contest in Group C. Simisola Shittu (205-SF-00) posted 22 points, 12 rebounds and 5 steals to lead the North American side. Australia and Canada were tied at 34 after twenty minutes of action. Canada however used a 26:16 run in the third term to surge ahead. Australia narrowed the deficit in the fourth frame but Canada hang on to snatch a tough victory at the end. Rowan Barrett Jr. (201-SF-99) totaled 19 points for Canada. Dragan Elkaz (192-G/F-99) answered with 22 points for Australia.

Group D
South Korea - France 90-84 OT
South Korea topped France in overtime for 1-0 record in Group D. Yang Jae Min (198-F/C-99) stepped up with 32 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. South Korea established a 39:33 halftime lead. France narrowed the distance to a single point heading into the fourth frame. Les Bleues denied the deficit in the next period forcing overtime. But South Korea drained 12 points in the extra period and marched to the win. Lee Junghyun (185-G-99) tossed in 23 points and issued 7 assists for South Korea. Jaylen Hoard (202-SF-99) responded with 41 points for France.

Bosnia - Dominican Republic 84-59
Dzanan Musa (203-G-99, agency: BeoBasket) scored 32 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to pace Bosnia and Herzegovina past Dominican Republic. The Europeans dominated from start to finish. Bosnia registered a 25:9 lead at the first break. They stretched the margin at 21-point mark at halftime. Dominican Republic could not recover in the second half as Bosnia rallied to the victory. Sani Campara (188-PG-99) tossed in 18 points for the winning side. Yeison Rivera (178-PG-99) nailed 17 points for Dominican Republic.
