France rallied past Australia to improve at 3-0 record on top of Group B. France dominated in the first half. les Bleues grabbed a comfortable 44-29 halftime lead. Australia narrowed the gap in the second half but could not avoid the loss at the end. Marine Dursus (174-G/F-2005) posted 22 points, while Dominique Malonga (198-C-2005) contributed 15 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Jessica Petrie (186-C-2005) answered with 15 points for Australia.
Argentina - Slovenia 45-73
Slovenia finished second in Group B. They beat Argentina to earn 2-1 record. Slovenia jumped off to a 21-8 lead after ten minutes. They followed with a 38-23 second half run to ice the win. Lea Bartelme (178-PG-2005) and Alina Zitek (181-PG-2005) posted 11 points each for Slovenia. Angelina Giacone (181-F-2005) answered with 14 points for Argentina.
Egypt - Canada 44-67
Canada outgunned Egypt to earn the second place in Group C. Canada recorded a 32-26 halftime lead. The North American side then ignited a 35-18 rally in the second half and raced to the victory. Toby Fournier (188-F-2005) recorded 13 points and 14 rebounds, while Delaney Gibb (181-SG-2005) added 12 points in the win. Jana Elalfy (192-C-2005) answered with 15 points for Egypt.
Spain - South Korea 92-52
Spain cruised past South Korea to improve at 3-0 record in Hungary. Spain built a 39-32 halftime lead. But they triggered a strong 53-20 second half run to ease to the win. Carla Segura (176-SF-2005) and Marina Mata (187-C-2005) notched 13 points each for the winners. Ko Hyeonji (181-F-2005) answered with 19 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists for South Korea.
Mexico - Hungary 36-71
Hungary thumped Mexico to stay undefeated at the championship. The hosts grabbed a 33-15 halftime lead. They held Mexico to 21 points in the second half and marched to the win. Lili Gabor tallied 14 points, while Lilla Papp (184-C-2005) and Orsolya Kadar (187-C-2005) netted 11 points each for Hungary. Beatriz Zazueta (173-SG-2005) hauled in 14 points for Mexico.
Belgium - Japan 60-57
Belgium nipped Japan to end up in the second place in Group A. Japan recorded a 23-11 lead after ten minutes. But Belgium narrowed the deficit at 3-point mark at the big break. They went on a 16-9 run in the fourth stanza to seal the win. Sam Daelemans (182-SF-2005) and Pauline Bayart (188-PF-2006) delivered 15 points each for Belgium. Kokone Ueno (176-G-2005) answered with 22 points for Japan.
Germany - USA 40-86
USA cruised past Germany to finish preliminary round undefeated. Breya Cunningham (193-F-2005, college: USA NT U16) scored 14 points and grabbed 7 rebounds to pace the winners. USA built a 47-19 halftime lead. They poured in 39 points in the second half to rally to the victory. JuJu Watkins (183-G-2005, college: USA NT U16) had 12 points and 10 rebounds for USA. Annika Soltau (190-PF-2006) answered with 19 points for Germany.
Mali - New Zealand 58-61
New Zealand nipped Mali for the first win in Hungary. Mali grabbed an 18-10 lead after ten minutes. New Zealand narrowed the gap at one-point mark at the big break. Mali stayed in charge throughout the third quarter. They entered the fourth period up by five points but New Zealand ignited a 20-12 rally to snatch the victory. Layla Cameron (176-PG-2005) delivered 18 points, while Maia Jones (179-SG-2005) added 16 points in the victory. Rokiatou Berthe (180-F-2006) responded with 16 points for Mali.
