Argentina - Japan 44-81
Japan earned the second straight win in Mexico. They stormed past Argentina to stay undefeated. Japan posted a 40-24 halftime lead and cruised to the victory in the second half. Nanano Hamada (160-PG-2007) and Yui Seito (174-F-2007) recorded 14 points each for Japan. Isabella Boullon (181-C-2007) answered with 12 points for Argentina.

Finland - Spain 35-71
Spain coasted past Finland to improve at 2-0 record in Group A. Spain limited Finland to just 6 points in the second stanza to take a 9-point halftime lead. Spain went on a 23-6 rally in the fourth stanza to race to the win. Sara Okeke (193-C-2007) tallied 19 points and 10 rebounds, while Leyre Urdiain (175-F-2007) had 10 points for the winners. Tiia Talonen (175-G-2007) chipped in 16 points for Finland.

Mali - Italy 51-85
Italy cruised past Mali for the second straight win at the tournament. Mali eked out a 16-14 lead after ten minutes. But Italy responded with a 58-24 rally in the next two periods to spur ahead. They held Mali to only 11 points in the fourth stanza to race to the win. Francesca Baldassarre (177-G-2008) came up with 19 points, while Isabel Hassan (182-F-2009) added 16 points for Italy. Couda Keita (170-PG-2008) answered with 13 points for Mali.

New Zealand - Mexico 98-81
New Zealand fired past Mexico to open win count in Group B. Bailey Flavell (177-G-2007) stepped up with 25 points to lead the Kiwis. New Zealand snatched a narrow 39-37 halftime advantage. They went on a 33-18 run in the third quarter to clear off for good. Keriana-Marie Hippolote tossed in 16 points for New Zealand. Maria Romero (169-G-2007) accounted for 23 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the loss.

USA - Puerto Rico 121-36
USA eased past Puerto Rico for the second win in a row. USA grabbed a 75-14 halftime lead and breezed to the win in the second half. Jordyn Palmer (185-F-2008, college: USA NT U16) produced 20 points, while Lanie Grant (175-G-2007) added 18 points for USA. Adriana Robles (171-G-2007) provided 8 points for Puerto Rico.

Croatia - Australia 87-96
Australia toppled Croatia to celebrate the initial win in Mexico. Croatia led by as many as 12 points after ten minutes. But Australia unloaded 41 points in the third term to storm ahead. They knocked down 24 points in the final frame to seal the win. Ruby Perkins (173-G-2007) chipped in 25 points, while Lara Somfai (192-C-2007) added 23 points for the winning side. Lena Bilic (182-F-2007) finished with 23 points for Croatia.

Canada - Taiwan 112-59
Canada knocked down Taiwan to improve at 2-0 record. The North American team registered a comfortable 65-22 halftime lead. They unleashed 27 points in the fourth frame to ease to the victory. Agot Makeer (185-SG-2007) provided 22 points, while Deniya Prawl (182-G-2007) banked in 19 points for Canada. Chen-Shan Pan (172-PG-2007) had 14 points for Taiwan.

France - Egypt 98-52
France coasted past Egypt for 2-0 record in Group D. France entered the second half up by 16 points. They erupted for 30 points in the third stanza to race to the win. Talia Kavoka (168-G-2007) hauled in 17 points, while Sarah Cisse (187-C-2007) added 14 points for France. Khadiga Abouelghait (190-C-2007) posted 14 points for Egypt.
