Australia overcame Georgia 100-84 in the first game of the last round at the 2023 World Cup. Australia finished Second Stage with a 3-2 record, whilst Georgia fell at 2-3 as both teams finished the campaign. Australia dominated the first quarter with a 23-17 lead and nailed 31 points in the second frame for a 54-37 halftime advantage. Georgia meanwhile replied with a 30-25 run in the third quarter, however could not catch up with the opponents. Australia won the last stanza 21-17 to close the 2023 World Cup. Patty Mills (183-PG-1988, college: SMC) top-scored for the winners with 19 points and Dante Exum (198-G-1995) produced 18. Duop Reath (210-C-1996, college: LSU) nailed 16 and Josh Giddey (203-G-2002) had 15. Goga Bitadze (212-C/F-1999) replied with 20 points in the losing effort, while Thad McFadden (188-G-1987, college: Fairmont St.) delivered 18.
